Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Everything looked nice when we went in. The seating host never smiled or seemed happy. Service was quick and even the wait staff were unsmiling and almost a bit cross. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries. The bacon was to be maple smoked, but it tasted 'piggy'. No flavor to it at all. I only ate half the burger as there was absolutely no taste or spice to it at all. Very plain. My fries were cold and only nubs of fries and very greasy. My friends ordered lasagna and said that was very good. There are plenty of other places to choose from and I would definitely choose another place.

We were looking for somewhere different to where we had eaten for the previous two nights and this restaurant was across the road from our hotel.
We were a party of 6 and as we approached the entrance we were greeted by a bouncer (quite bizarre) and shown to our table, he is certainly not your usual maître d' so I don't know what level of customer they normally get.
However, the rest of the waiting on staff were all very nice and friendly, our food and drinks orders were quickly taken and were were left to watch the interaction between the punters and the bouncer which provided for a lot of amusement.
The food was again huge in its portions and ok, but not outstanding, I had the muscles and the sauce was weak, with the muscles over cooked. I also had a couple of wings from the wings and rib platter, again they were ok.
It seems to be a theme in the tourist areas that you are given a lot of food, but not very well cooked food and it is also quite expensive. I have eaten in other local restaurants (not in the tourist areas) and the food is much better.
Would I go back - no, its ok for a meal, but it certainly had no highlights and I know there are many better restaurants locally.

Perfectly situated on O Connell Street.
That’s the positives of this restaurant.
We were greeted by a gent who looked underwhelmed to be greeting us. I should have known better at that point to carry on in , but we did and unfortunately the service did not get any better.
We were sat at a tiny table for 2 , there were a few waitresses milling around , we had our order taken we chose the Ribs/Chicken combo and hubby had fillet steak and a side of cheesy garlic bread.
Our drinks came over and tubs of condiments and at this point the table was already nearly full lol
By the time the food arrived we were just moving everything around trying to fit the different sized plates, more ramekins with fries, gravy boats of pepper sauce and coleslaw . It was very uncomfortable.
The Garlic Bread had to go back as it just wasn’t cooked properly.
My hubby had to get up to ask could it be cooked a bit more .
There was no interaction whatsoever from the servers, we were having to try and catch someone to take bits away from the table as we were finishing with them so that we could make some space.
The food was ok but no love goes into that food , or its presentation and definitely nobody cares if it’s ok or not !!
No check back to see if we were ok or if the food was ok
I was stuck up to the eyeballs with BBQ sauce from my ribs and wings .
This experience could have been so much better .
We of course had to ask for the bill and the only interaction we had was to be asked if we would like to leave a tip😂
We politely declined and the waitress said that was ok 🙈
I would like to leave a tip though if any of the Flanagans team read these reviews and my tip is that you need to pull your socks up and have a serious look at your set up,
I know you can probably rely on constant tourist trade I get that but where is your passion?
Not just for your own pride but for your customers who have saved up for a long time to come away and who don’t want to leave your restaurant feeling disappointed and like they have just been fleeced for €80

My family and I were looking for a place to have lunch and we ended up stoping at this restaurant.
Even though the waiters were thoughtful, the food didn’t compensate. We ordered 1 calzone and 1 Margherita, both had too many tomato sauce ( or something similiar, which tasted awful) and were both tasteless.
The icing on the cake were the drinks, we worsened 1 Guinness bear, 1 Coke Zero and one orange juice. The bear was really good (to be honest it was the only thing good about this place), but both the juice and the coke seemed like they were water with food dye.
I would also like to emphasise that the service was slow, and the restaurant wasn’t that full.
I would definitely not recommend this place. The location is great, but everything else it’s quite disappointing.

my husband and i went for a dinner and sat outside, you have to pay upon order which is understandable. got a coke and a water which were fine. i ordered the carbonara and he ordered a beef burger and we got a side of garlic bread with cheese. the service was quick and waitress was nice but upon arrival we were disappointed. the pasta looked nice except there was sauce splattered all over the plate and the burger looked poor like something you would make quickly at home. the garlic bread was cold and soggy and came on a dirty and chipped plate. the pasta tasted awful i had a few bites and couldn’t eat anymore. it was just cream and had overall bad taste. we weren’t checked on once even though i had left my plate untouched. we paid and didn’t complain and just left. we won’t be returning.

After reading good reviews we went. We were asked to pay in beforehand and could not exchange the tea for coffee without a cost. Asked for strong coffee but what I got was undrinkably weak. And then the breakfast. Dry, poor, sad. Do not go there.

Don’t go here …. Met at the door told to stand back and wait , several free tables , then a gent sat us . I asked is the full menu on offer , the answer was yes .
On placing an order , we were ordering Caesar salad and chowder , told we cannot just order a starter , if that’s what we wanted we would have to leave . As we wanted to have tea . One person ordered a main course .
This is rip off … you can only order a main course , more expensive Dishes only .
Tea served , no milk … had to ask twice for milk . No sugar . A pot of tea , 2 small cups .
Food was poor also . Chowder is not a chowder , more of a fish broth , no cream and definitely no Jameson as it states on the menu , the bread was stale, Caesar salad - main course , covered in mayo - hot mayo.
A great example of rip off central buskin .
No customer service
Asked for the bill , no one enquired on our satisfaction !!
There are better options up the street

We had a good time and the food was nicely done and very good. It was on the Main Street so a bit pricey but delicious. However when our €93 bill came ( for four people) they would not split it for the two couples! Had we sat at two tables we would have gotten two bills. But because we made it nice and easier for them they screwed us and we could not use two credit cards, this is just laziness and not customer friendly. We won’t be going there again.

We saw Flanagans after we got off the bus to the city centre & we’re looking to try a traditional Irish breakfast.
I’d like to start and say the staff were all very friendly and we sat in one of their booths which was nice for a couple enjoying each others company. The ‘diner’ felt about as much American as Irish in my opinion, but still I imagine it’s quite lively in the evening.
Alas, the Breakfast we had was fairly 'meh'. Black & White pudding felt like they had been deep fried; my egg was already broken and the bacon, whilst thick and seemingly decent quality, was either lightly shallow fried or oven cooked; so was quite limp & basted in fat (as pictured).
This could be to another persons taste; but not mine & didn't have the time or the confidence/inclination to ask for corrections.
Honestly and unfortunately, i wish it was better.

The sign reads STEAK HOUSE yet there are 2 steaks on the menu and wow pricing is crazy. I opted for the lasagna and bleck is all I can say. Mushy super sweet like someone opened a can of
Ravioli sauce dumped in some so called beef and mush noodles and called it a day. The 5 dollar salad what a joke. The salad that wasn't told to us that would accompany it was the almost the same as what I paid 5 euro for and both were warm and let's leave it this way, it all went back. Who accompanies lasagna with fries NO ONE. The other dish was half a chicken and it basically went back as well can't say a damn thing nice about the place. Bummed out.

We stopped in this restaurant because it looked lovely from the street with a hearty breakfast. We were a bit jet lagged and looked forward to a good breakfast but found the french toast barely edible and the scramble eggs and salmon attrocious. Our food came out so quickly that we know it had been sitting in a hotplate. My husband will usually eat anything, but left his meal untouched. We, like another reviewer this month, didn't have the confidence or wherewithal to complain so merely paid our bill and left our plates uneaten. Our dining was the day the previous reviewer left their review, so hopefully it was an off-day, but I would stay don't judge this book by it's very lovely cover.

Sat down for dinner (x3 people) ordered 3 main courses and drinks. Two more friends joined us - we were rudely told by the manager that we had to pay as a table and not split the bill which we happily agreed to.
The two friends wanted to order a starter meal (they had eaten earlier) and an alcoholic drink each. They were refused , being told that they must order a main course to avail of an alcoholic beverage. The manager ( red haired woman) was extremely rude and made us feel uncomfortable.

I was surprised to see many bad reviews about this place. We spontaneously visited when looking for somewhere to grab a late breakfast. Staff were quick to serve and happy to accommodate. When we asked if we could swap things on our breakfast they were more than happy to do so. €13 for a breakfast and a lovely pot of Irish breakfast tea. Next time I come to Dublin I wouldn’t hesitate to visit again. All of the staff were lovely

Excellent location on O Connell Street. We travelled from Derry to visit a relative in hospital so by 7.30pm we were pretty hungry. We ordered rib eye steaks which were very good. Cooked perfectly and tender. The onions and mushrooms which accompanied them were excellent. They seemed home cooked.
However , the chips were awful. I can’t stand those gashly frozen skinny tasteless chips.
How hard is it to fry home cut chips?
Those chips ruined what was a very good meal.
The staff were lovely . Friendly and hardworking .
I found the pricing to be reasonable and we had a bottle of wine which was reasonable also .
