About
Whether it’s Marco’s Dawson Street restaurant or Marco's Courtyard Bar & Grill in Donnybrook, the alliance of the family-run Irish restaurant dynasty Fitzers with chef restaurateur Marco Pierre White raised the bar for stylish dining out in Dublin. You can depend on Marco and Fitzers to deliver a standard that is anything but standard. Expect your expectations to be exceeded. Marco Pierre White’s idea of simple is old school: elegant dishes prepared using the finest ingredients by chefs trained in London by Marco himself. The deceptively simple menu demands every dish earn its place: the choicest cuts of meat, freshest fish, classic sauces. The vibe? Grown up, relaxed, playful. The setting? An opulent room you’ll feel at home in, only better.

We have eaten here many times and went for the early bird menu, pre theatre. We were given a bench seat in the corner with a group of 4 to our left and another double to our right. There was not enough room for more than one person to move around the table as they were so close. Our shrimp cocktail arrived and we started. The waiter then re appeared and started to lay the cutlery for our main course whilst we were eating our starter !! I had main course ribs that were smothered with a thick sauce, the ribs were very over cooked and not tender at all. The other dish of fish and chips were fine. All in all not very good. I informed the waiter about the ribs and he came back to say that as I had managed to eat most of them they had really no comment to make and the chef had taken it on board. Quite a disappointing meal at one one of our favourite Dublin restaurants.

Went for dinner here with my husband recently. Have been here several times for dinner on our trips to Dublin but this time we were disappointed. When we arrived, the maitre d’ was speaking to a staff member, he looked at us, said nothing and continued his conversation. He glanced at us again and said nothing to us but continued speaking and finally he finished his conversation and cooly greeted us. I found his manner distant and unfriendly. The waiting staff as always were professional. We ordered 2 steaks but I was disappointed when mine arrived as the steak wasn’t very hot, the side order of butter barely melted on it. All other sides were fine. We were on our way to a party so didn’t want to delay our meal by sending it back. When we finished eating our main course we asked for the bill. The maitre d’ brought it to us but asked did we not want to see a dessert menu?? Obviously we didn’t when we had already asked for the bill?? Was it a dig at us for only ordering one course??? It was the first time I’ve left there thinking that I probably wouldn’t be back. There are so many other great restaurants in the city centre with much friendlier staff and just as good food!

This restaurant has been around for quite some time now but when one is confronted with so many new restaurant options it does offer that degree of the tried and tested option. A Friday lunchtime and the day being Valentine's day most restaurant s were gearing up for a very busy evening s service. Lunchtime service almost full.we were however show a table ( without reservation) without any fuss. We both went for the special main and " signature dish" of a sirloin steak and chips with fried egg . Good value at €18 per serving. The service was excellent and prompt and quality of steak on the smaller size was very good and served to order. One of us had 2 glass s red wine and the other a soft drink ( limited options ) An excellent desert for one of apple tart and ice cream followed by coffee. A bill for € 72 represented fair value for good food and service. The restaurant has a comfortable feeling decor being perhaps on the " dated " side but this can also be a positive in these rapidly changing times. A positive experience and look forward to a return visit

Enjoyed a fantastic meal here mid-week. Service was extremely attentive with a strong customer focus. Food such as the sirloin, onion rings and crab starter were delicious. Most amazing thing was the value, I had expected the prices would have been higher given the location and branding, but extremely reasonable. With those prices, good food, and attentive staff, I will return.

We had a meal for my birthday here last night. The service was good but the food is overpriced and tasteless. I had pate to start which was bland. My husband and I had steaks one fillet one sirloin both overcooked and tough. We told the waiter but he just apologised. We had tried to bring a cake to celebrate my birthday but they would not allow it or indeed supply one of their own. My husband asked for a scoop of ice cream for the birthday cake and it came with a birthday message, one scoop of almost melted vanilla and no candle!! We were charged for the scoop of ice cream! This restaurant is overpriced. Nice decor and location but there it ends.

While the food was nice enough the service was a major let down. Very inattentive on arrival and long delays to clear the table of starter plates and bring round a drinks. My friend booked the table and so I was shocked to learn that they charged a €40 deposit for the booking. Our early bird bill totalled €65 so the deposit is a ridiculous percentage of the bill. In addition they did not deduct this from our bill automatically. We had to request it. My friend mentioned the same thing happened the last time she ate here so clearly not a once off error. I won’t be returning.

The staff was very nice, but the food was bad. Couldn't make a vodka Martini; the easiest of all cocktails. Their Martinis are warm and not mixed properly. The steak was half an inch thick and not very warm, and the brown sauce on top tasted canned. The scallop entree tasted old, and it was poorly seasoned. The onion soup was cloudy and overly sweet, and there was no browned cap of cheese over the top. The chips were made with frozen potatoes unless Ireland's potatoes naturally taste frozen. They were mealy inside. The outsides were not crisp at all. McDonald's does a better job. The staff needs support from corporate in the form of training, and you need a proper cleaning crew. You can't expect workers to figure things out without help. If you have good employees who do their best, you should help them instead of sitting on your rear end cashing checks you haven't earned. We didn't complain because the employees tried so hard, but the management needs to be replaced.

Very nice service- litterally starting from the door. After my coat was taken and I was called " madam" I was expecting bill with extra "0" but prices were reasonable. Wide selection of wines and great cocktails. As a vegetarian I had limited options but food was great.

Both the starter, salad with goat cheese and walnuts, and the dessert ,Elton mess, were delicious. The main course, however, was a different story. The sirloin steak was rather over cooked for medium rare and contained a number of tendons which made it difficult to chew. I would like to say my friend ordered the same cut and did not have this problem. But when cutting the meat this should have been recognised. Side dishes were boring- just what I cook at home. The service was below average. This is the first time I have been to such a restaurant and had to serve our own wine. The waiter came to the table twice when our glasses were empty and failed to refill them. Eventually I called him over and asked. The rest of the bottle we served ourselves. Completely unacceptable for a restaurant of this status and these prices. Never again!

Worst MPW restaurant I've visited. I walked in the restaurant during the afternoon, it was very quiet - only a few tables occupied. I stand there for a couple of minutes, until someone comes to greet me. In the meantime, the manager and the bartender are chatting away a couple of feet away - without acknowledging me. I sit down, and I am given a menu. Nobody comes around for another 10 minutes, and I have to call someone to place an order. I noticed afterwards that there was a special set menu "early bird", which other tables were offered but I wasn't. The fillet steak was overcooked, I've ordered it medium and it came almost well done. Mash potatoes very bland. After I finish eating, my empty plate stands there for another 20 minutes, until I call someone to take it. They take the plate away, but don't bring any desert menu or ask if I want some coffee. I wait another 15 minutes, nobody comes around. At this point I gave up on desert and coffee, I stand up and called the manager asking for the bill. I told him how deplorable the service was, and I left for a nice desert and coffee cross the street at The Ivy.

We ate lunch here in early February. Lay- out and location are very good and the front of house staff were quite excellent. Unfortunately the food was unexceptional and lacked fresh flavour. I would rush back.

Dined here recently with work colleagues for our belated Christmas Party! The place is beautiful and the staff are very friendly. Unfortunately the food is very poor and very expensive. We were a group of 5 men. For starters we had scallops and one had the crab. The scallops had no flavour and weren't seasoned. They came with a small piece of pork belly which was nice but when you're paying €17 for 3 small scallops you expect them to be excellent. Far from it. One of our group had crab. Tasted like frozen crab, certainly wasn't fresh. We all had steaks for our mains, sirloins, ribyeye and I had the fillet. Everyone agreed that the steaks were tough, chewy and not seasoned. My fillet was barely edible it was so tough. Probably the worst fillet steak I've had and at €36 that's not good enough. The sides were ok, except for the mushrooms which come in big inedible unattractive chunks that don't even taste of mushrooms? Desserts look and tasted like they are bought in. They don't have that fresh good taste of desserts made on site. Unfortunately we won't be back the food and the preparation of the food in this very expensive restaurant is very poor. The bill for 5 of us including tip with wine was over €700. Just not acceptable to pay this kind of money for such poor food. Plenty of far better quality options in the area.

While we knew it would be expensive, the food was not up to the quality. My steak cost €42 and was cold in seconds due to a cold plate. It also was just put on the plate with gravy over it and didn’t look very well plated. Seine servers were lovely and friendly and some were not.

On arrival staff unfriendly. Dropped my jacket on ground, no apology. Rib eye steak was not rested, juice flowing from steak covering plate, no pleasant. Desert, Eaton Mess was delicious. Would not return.
