Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An in and out lunch was all we were after. Quickly greeted upon our arrival, the bar tender asked us sincere and probing questions. Yea, a pint of Guiness was what we needed. She then ordered a very tasty chicken wrap that canes with super hot fries and I had the soup of the day. It was a thick vegetable broth that was very flavorable so as yo absolutely taste the carrots and roasted peppers. Soup was served with heavy Irish brown bread. The bar appeared to be untouched from tge 50’s...a perfect motif. BUT very clean!

A group of 4 of us went for dinner just after lockdown, service was very good and we were made feel very comfortable.
Food was really good, we all had starters and mains and just one dessert. All the food was good but the burger and Vol-au-vents were top notch.
Potions sizes were good and reasonably priced.
Will be back again.

Really good food, the “pie” of the day was pork with Guinness served with flat bread, salad and chips (fries).
Fish and chips and also we had the double bacon cheese burger served also with fries and salad.
We had a ticket for free taster of Guinness since we road the “hop on hop off “ bus. The cheese cake was good for the something sweet.
We had a friendly waitress and she was a lot of fun.
She is new and we liked her!!

Waited 30 mins for food ordered a roast of the day lamb. Instead received a lamb chop and a cutlet. Asked to change to the roast and was told that was it.Very disappointing to bite into it and find it was sour. Presume the delay was trying to find some sub standard lamb to give us

5 stars We arrived late evening in Dublin and was looking for a place to eat and have a drink we came across this bar and was pleasently surprised by the old world interior and great staff. We ordered the cod but instead of the chips we asked if we could have mashed potato and veg. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal the gravy with the potato was so good and we asked for a bag to bring left over fish etc as too much to eat at 1 sitting.

Staff were very pleasant, service quick , decor lovely, food was tasty, beer was good.
The roast beef sandwich with gravy was very tasty and filling.. my only complaint was with the menu , if you look on line before hand, it’s not very clear which menu you will get as we arrived at 2.45 you get a completely different menu 15 minutes later that has more choice than the lunchtime menu, all a bit confusing. Having said that I would eat here again.

We had been there on a tour years ago and went again this year because we had such good memories of this restaurant. The ambiance is so enjoyable, with a fireplace, beautiful old wood and striking mirrored bar. The service was quick and the food as good as we remembered. Our pints of Guiness went well with bangers and mash and roast lamb, but the best was the serving of mussels in an incredible whiskey and cream sauce, a portion easily serving two. We wished we had had room for the tempting desserts. Great place!

Recommended by our big bus tour guide and went in for the free Guinness deal. We decided to have lunch too. When walking in we were unsure what to do and asked the server for a table of 2 for lunch. The girl was really grumpy and felt like she did not want us to be there. When seated we got a different server who was much better. We both ordered the cheese and ham toastie which arrived quickly and tasted delicious. Food was good and filled us up. The bar is nice and feels authentic, good atmosphere. Toilets were horrible and felt unclean. The original server came to clear our table and I politely asked for the bill however again she was very grumpy and stared at me as if I had inconvenienced her. She then brought the bill over and my partner asked to pay by card and again she was rude as if we had done something wrong. The place gets a 3 star review because the food was nice and really authentic but think staff need to be conscious of how they act. I have worked in hospitality previous and understand the nature of the business, but even if she had been a bit politer I wouldn’t have thought about it, but here I am thinking about the poor service. No tip was left which makes me feel horrible

Everybody praises and recommend this place, but I am somehow not convinced by its quality.
I got to this bar with my boyfriend, sat at the table, and waited for about half an hour for some waiter to take our order. We weren't even sure if the place offers table service, since nothing was happening. In the end, we went to a bar to make our order. So it seems that the place offers the table service, but the speed of serving was so bad that we went to the bar with each additional order of beer or so. Service is really not the biggest highlight of this place.
All the meals look like fast food. I think it's because fries or fried potatoes are a universal side dish for everything. The taste of the meals is good and the portions are big, but I see too much oil everywhere.
If you want to try something interesting, go for beef and Guinness pie. But again, I would just go for something else than fries as the side dish, if possible.

Had lunch there with 2 of my family after a hospital visit. Food was only OK. Had the bangers and mash. Asked if they could substitute the peas for a few chips. Said they couldnt do it because the price differential was too large. So I got chips on the side for 5.50. The bangers and mash was already 18 euro. There were 2 average size Sausages and a boat load of thin gravy with cold mash. They charged 1.50 for a glass of water with miwadi. Lunch for 3 came to 75 euro. If this is typical of Dublin hospitality I am staying in the west where they know how to treat you and encourage repeat business.

I would highly recommend visiting Nancy Hands if you have the chance. The pub has great history and is only a stones throw away from phoenix park.
The staff are friendly and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable.
The food is amazing I would recommend the chowder, but my whole family left happy with what we’ve they ordered.
Beautiful venue and would have no problem recommending this to my friends and family.
Will visit again.

The inside is much bigger than you'd expect! Even though it was super busy the staff was on point, friendly and well organized. Great pub grub options. We had the roast of the day, which was juicy bacon wrapped chicken, the nacho's, which could have fed a whole rugby team and the fish cakes. The latter lacked a bit in flavour but had great texture and was a surprisingly big portion. Would definitely go again as the food we saw leaving the kitchen, was mouth watering.

Our first visit was fantastic. It's a very comfortable place, the staff was friendly, the food was marvelous. Be sure to visit upstairs. It has an entirely different vibe than the cozy hearthside on the lower level. The upstairs wasn't open for service, but they don't mind if you look around.
In general, while we were in Ireland for three weeks, we kept encountering places that weren't open at all or could only open the kitchen if the staff showed up. Unfortunately Nancy Hands was one of those places when we tried to go for a second meal. I feel fortunate we got fed the first time since it was one of the nicest meals we had on the trip. It also seemed to be a place the locals liked since many customers were greeted like close friends.
Everything was very clean and well maintained. Hope to visit (and eat) some time again.

Very poor selection from the menu. Most of the food advertised wasn't available at all, which reduced the selection to the bare minimum at what I would consider extraordinarily high prices for average fried pub grub, with very poor service. I would not recommend Nancy Hands for food at all.
