Where do I start. I booked the original Boeuf having been to it some years ago and thinking it was actually very tasty. I had also recently been Their other operation on Suffolk street which was very Meh. Not been to Boeuf and Frites, nor...will I ever btw. But here go… Booked a table and requested outside, we were sat inside. It’s noisy, its chaos trying to use the toilet and my clothes absolutely stank due to the proximity of the open kitchen. I had actually thrown on a bit of the auld Joe Malone before I went out, all in vain. We ordered 2 fillet steaks, 1 onion rings, 1 mash, 1 fries, 1 side salad, pepper sauce, bernaise and a red wine gravy. The steaks are dusted in dried herbs (mostly thyme and Rosemary) and almost plastic like pink peppercorns. I actually couldn’t taste the meat, it was awful. Genuinely inedible due to the overpowered flavours of the dried herbs. We would have sent the onion rings back cause they were cold but what was the point, they were crap anyways. The side salad was bitter. The fries were obviously cheap and frozen, dusted in something red to make them more easy on the eye. Not sure what it was, didn’t taste of anything, but to their credit they were slightly warmer than the onion rings. The sauces were just gloop. Bernaise was just crème freche muddled together with whatever they could find. I had called for the bill as quick as I could. I never wanted to leave a place as quick. For reference We were seated at 7.15, and gone at 8. Also For reference, I had a voucher for this. And I had spent several weeks trying to sell it off for half its value. You make your own mistakes, and I made mine by following through and booking a table in Boeuf, southwilliam street. So I’m gonna be honest here. it’s the worst dining experience I have ever had.More

Absolutely amazing. The service and food was the best. I fell across this restaurant and wasn’t disappointed. My steak was cooked to perfection.

My husband brought me here for my birthday dinner as he had been before and was raving about it. Boy was he sorry. Restaurant itself needs work. It is very dirty. The carpet is disgusting. I dropped a knife and when the waiter picked it...up it was covered in hairs. Also there are too many tables in the outer area for the space. Both staff and customers had to bump into me to get past our table. Shared a starter of calamari which was fine. I had a striploin with skinny chips and pepper sauce for mains. Steak was dry and completely over seasoned, which I think was to cover up the poor steak. Chips were also over seasoned. Pepper sauce not edible. For dessert I had a creme brulee which was fine but randomly had 2 squares of dairy milk chocolate on top...sure I duno! My husband ordered a double espresso but got a single. The waiter/tress had poor English and communication was difficult. The only reason this place gets 2 stars and not 1 is because it was reasonably priced, which makes me think that they're aiming for a fast food steaks type thing, which is fine. Also, my husband thought his meal was grand. For him, not for my bday.More

We went and ordered two starters chicken wings and calamari with chips and side salad with drinks and were told the ‘rules’ were that you had to order a steak. When I asked why the manager told me that’s just the rules. Nothing in the...menu to say this or on the website. Rude manager and didn’t seem to care. I had eaten there before with my niece and I rate it mediocre at best. Best to avoid.More

Visited for a Sunday lunch with a friend. The place was not very busy which was welcome as it's quite compact and even half full it was already getting noisy. The decor is a bit odd and I'm not sure it goes with the quality...and cost of the food but that's subjective and has no impact on the taste of the food ;) The kitchen is open, right in the dining area and all our clothes smelled of fried food for the rest of the day. This sometimes happens in restaurants but was particularly noticeable here. Perhaps ventillation could be improved? The bathrooms are quite poor - cramped and uncomfortable to use although clean. In terms of the food, while the lunch / brunch menu looked interesting (and good value), we decided to go all in with the full menu steaks. My friend got the fillet and I got the ribeye plus a bunch of add ons, sauces and sides plus a glass of lovely Malbec. The steaks arrived quite quickly and were cooked to perfection. The quality of the meat truly is fantastic at Boeuf. The reviews were right :) The sides were perfect too although on a slightly smaller side. I'd say the whole meal could use a 10% boost in quantity and I'm not a large fella! If you're hungry then order some starters first. The service was friendly and efficient and all in all I enjoyed the experience very much.More

The steak they offer in this place is the highest quality meat you will get in Dublin, but not just the steak but the side and sauces are amazing by far my favourite side was the onion and cheese croquette and if you are in...doubt about the sauce go for the red wine sauce with the steak. Plus the drinks are amazing as well is not just ice to fill your glass. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Any time you are around dublin this is a must go restaurant.More

Went to Boeuf for dinner, and was very impressed with the quality of the steak, sides, drinks and service. They made my filet blue as requested, and it was perfectly cooked. The side of skinny frites and mushrooms were outstanding. Everyone liked the mixed drinks...they had. The service was outstanding and answered any questions. And maybe boring to say, but the Creme Brulee was outstanding. A great french steakhouse. Would go again.More

We came to Dublin for New Year and I walked past this restaurant several times. We booked and we were not disappointed. Possibly, Infact no, this was the BEST steak I’ve ever had! The sides were amazing! My only complaint is the Broccoli was a...little watery but it was still delicious! I would recommend this place over and over and we can’t wait to visit again!! The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for you!More

Early dinner with my family. We sat in the heated outdoor area, which was great. The service was attentive without being annoying and the waiter patiently helped us choose what we needed with helpful suggestions. The steak was perfect, get the brandy peppercorn sauce! I...don’t think I’ve had a better steak. We all demolished our meals. Dessert was the Banoffee pie - get that too… I think the cost was pretty reasonable, certainly by US standards.More

I was super excited to dine at Boeuf. It is in a bit of a touristy area of Dublin, but on the edge too, and generally it seemed that there were a lot of locals dining there. To be clear, this is not a fancy...restaurant in terms of its setting or tables etc - and in part that is what I wanted and why I was interested, in addition to the menu. I made a reservation - for one person at 7:00 PM. I highly recommend that because they seem to generally be busy. Getting into the restaurant and then finding where you are supposed to be greeted etc is a bit odd - but that is the nature of the setting and their space - so no worries. I was quickly sat after reservation confirmation and then after about 10 minutes my waiter finally arrived and asked for my order. To be clear, they were not that busy - about 60% of the tables were occupied and the kitchen staff (it is mostly an open kitchen) were chatting and seemingly relaxed. I thought 10 minutes was a bit long - but ok - no worries as I was not in a hurry. The menu is pretty fun - the selections are nice and layout is fine. One minus is that they only have on red by the glass and it is some generic Merlot... Would love to see a Cab by the glass too - although they did have several bottles available but as a one person diner that is a bit unrealistic. They also have an ok cocktail list - to be clear, cocktail bars are hopping in Dublin - time to up the game a bit perhaps, but no real complaints there. I ordered a few things - started with a Whisky Sour. For Mains and Sides, I ordered a NY Strip, Medium Rare, with blue cheese and a red wine reduction sauce, and a sauteed cauliflower and fried onion rings. I also asked for the only glass of red wine offered, the Merlot. The waiter, and this is the only time I ever saw him, asked if I wanted it with my mains and I said yes. My food arrived - and how they serve that is nice - the steak is on a heating iron plate and the sides in their own iron heated plates too. The sides were great - well done, although the cauliflower lacked seasoning. I had both a salt grinder (clear, and was obviously salt) and a pepper grinder - or so I though - the pepper grinder was typical wood etc - but turned out to be salt too. Bummer. So I grabbed one from an adjacent table that was actually pepper. The red wine sauce was excellent. The NY Strip was just ok- it had a farily substantial fat side to it (more or less expected) but was cooked one step into Medium Well.. It was certainly not any where near medium rare. I was mostly ok with that though but would have preferred it to be cooked how I asked. But here were the huge misses - and what makes me so frustrated. 1) I never saw the waiter - ever. When my food was delivered, I asked again for my glass of Merlot. 2) I started eating - and of course noted that the steak was well over cooked - but still tolerable. After about 10 minutes, I was tired of waiting for my twice-asked for merlot. So I got up and went to the folks at the kitchen and asked for a glass of merlot. It arrived at my table with a quick drop off in a glass that was fresh from the dishwasher - it was quite warm. Ok - I'd prefer it to be at least room temp but ... 3) I continued to eat - and not a single time did anyone EVER visit me and check in. I guess they were too busy chatting away in the back - which is what I observed. 4) When I was done - I waited for a while - but no one ever came. I finally just got up and went to the hostess and said I wanted to pay. I noticed a sign next to the register noting how tips would be shared - in terms of how much the kitchen staff gets adn the waiter gets. I was not too worried about that at this point. I am not totally sure, but I believe it was my waiter that walked up and ran my bill for me. Since I had only ever seen him once, I am not totally sure. I normally tip very well - 20-22% or more depending. Typical American... But this time I didn't leave any tip and that was actually too bad for the kitchen staff. Cooking stakes is tricky and they will get them wrong sometimes. So I am not worried about that. But when the service just is totally absent ..well that is just completely avoidable and is a cultural issue in the restaurant. Dublin is amazing - so many places to dine and have a great safe time. And this place is in a high traffic area. But - clearly there is something wrong with the basic leadership etc - because what I experienced from a service perspective is about what i'd expect from Buger King. Sad.More

Absolute rubbish. We shared the combination…..really difficult to separate the rib from the filet. Small portions for €47. My wife ordered filet, didn’t arrive with the mains. Waitress screwed up. We decided to share the combination, why wait. Veg, bernaise etc poor. Then ….the bill...….a voluntary 10% tip. Told them to remove that. A totally disgusting meal. Poor quality, poor service , poor everything.More
