Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We entered the Beer Temple and ended up in the Oak where seats were available. Although there was staff present they did not come to our table, which surprised us. After inquiring we were told that they did not offer table service. We ordered our...wine and food at the bar. I had Fish and Chips and my girlfriend a Chicken Salad. The food was nevertheless served at our table and the wine I collected from the bar. The food was surprisingly good, very tasteful and sufficient. All in all a very positive experience.More

Lovely quiet atmosphere in this place if your looking for an authentic Dublin Pub. The decor is lovely with lots of seafaring pictures on the wall. Really worth a visit. Food is available but we didi not partake. Highly recommend.

Our first night in Dublin we went to The Oak for a pint and dinner, and it was excellent. They seated us immediately without a booking, the staff were friendly and the food was fantastic. The atmosphere felt relaxed and the decor helped build the...ambiance. We enjoyed it so much that during our short visit to Dublin, we went there again for dinner.More

The Oak I tried to avoid Temple Bar during my trip but a walk took me through the area and I came upon The Oak. It’s a fabulous upper- mid restaurant that has a lovely, warm ambiance and fabulous food. I highly recommend the bacon...cheeseburger with a pint of Guinness - the burger was quite large and incredibly juicy with tons of flavor. If you just want a pint, The Oak has a low key typical “working class” pub next door that seemed lovely.More

The best fresh poured Guinness I reckon. Nice original bar with wooden surroundings and velvet curtains. Great friendly bar tender. Very helpful and enjoyed explaining that the barrel was under his feet so the Guinness didn’t have to travel far to the glass. It was...smooth and most enjoyable. My wife had a gin again recommended by yer man She loved it. Thanks. You made the day.More

We went there last Friday with friends. When we arrived we got a table next to entrance. We got^out menus and ... and finally after 25 min somebody took our order.. It took them 15 min around. We ordered starters to share; mussels, cheese plate...and chicke wings. In the middle we realized we got an extra plate of cheese (different type) which we didnt order... unfortunately we ate half as per we thought that one of us ordered that. Anyway when we decided to order one more time strters waitress was very unhappy to serve us. As well when you have table next to window,be prepared that security man comes and goes, looks through the window next to you and is always around your table.Very annoying. Food was good a specially mussels and chees plate. Sauce served with mussels was amazing! Congrats for chef. Food great Atmoaphere ok like for Friday night:loud and many people Service: bad Maybe one day I come back but I doubt that this year...More

We had booked the private bar downstairs and overall the service we received could not be faulted. All the staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us. The food itself wasn't particularly great, there were some hits and misses. We reserved the...tables to view the Ireland rugby match and the atmosphere was electric, there was a real buzz about the place. Excellent location, staff brilliant, real buzz, food not particularly great.More

We had a really poor meal. The mussels were cold on top and boiling underneath they had been microwaved. The apple pie had soggy pastry as it was also microwaved. The staff wandered around like they did not want to be there. Overall really poor...and won't be going backMore

Found a jewel in the crown when we visited this establishment. From the manager Peter to all the staff they create a pleasant and friendly atmosphere that makes this pub stand out on its own. The meal we had was divine, service was excellent it...was hard to leave when the time came. Well worth a visit if your in or around town. Many Thanks to the Oak, John NugentMore
