Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Bread was stale on the antipasti I asked for fresh bread and they toasted the stale bread and brought it back The antipasti was the worst I've had Some borderline almost turned ham with packet chicken with balsamic vinegar lashed on top and some prosciuto...and chorizo I had seafood pasta for main and it was tasteless . My friend had the braised beef pasta which was also poor We ate it because we were starving The service also wasnt great at all the staff didnt seem friendly I was really looking forward to some decent Italian food and this unfortunately wasn't itMore

I Would give it a zero if I could. Sleepy service, the pizza Dough was too heavy and to make things worse we saw the big chef Being so rude to one of the staff that we felt embarrassed. That’s why I only go to...Dolce Sicily. Great food and great environment.More

I fancied pizza so decided to try this restaurant . My pizza in fairness was excellent but my wifes calzone was not cooked in the middle , in fact the cheese had not melted . We were the only ones in the restaurant so to...save a fuss i gave her half of mine . The main reason that i will not return is that there was no water to wash hands in the bathroom and they had no hand sanitiser available either . After then last 2 years this is simply not good enough .More

Unfortunately one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Booked before a show in the 3 Arena. Service was very slow, after a long time waiting for drinks wine was eventually brought to table, opened and plonked back on the table. Waitress didn’t...pour it. Very simple order with both of us ordering the same main course. Finally was served and order was wrong with one dish correct and the other totally different. Waited a long time for correct main course to arrive and when bit into ravioli stuffed with spinach the spinach was frozen. Charged for everything apart from frozen dinner. Appalling and will never be back.More

Sensational quality food. Ingredients very high quality and sustainably sourced. Pizza out of this world. Slow roasted pork dish with roast potatoes incredible.. followed of course by tirami su and fab coffee. Service was extremely friendly and efficient. Booking recommended due to limited capacity

My husband and I popped in for lunch immediately after getting into town. We were STARVING & a giant plate of pasta seemed like the right move. This place did not disappoint. Both of our meals were so fresh & authentic. Super cute atmosphere inside;...right on the corner of a busy town square. Very friendly & appreciative service.More

We ate here on our last night in Dublin. It was located right near our hotel and looked interesting. We both ordered pizza, and it was excellent. The drinks were also very good. Our server was super nice too. We wanted dessert, but were quite...full, so we got dessert to take away. Both the cannoli and tiramisu were delicious! A great little restaurant.More

Went as a group, this restaurant is handily place beside a Luas stop. Food / service was good, prices were what you would expect. Only issue was a large glass door was left open all the time, on requesting that it be closed or at...least shut a bit, we were told it had to be open as the oven was too hot for it to be shut !!! Has no one thought of an extractor fan ?More

What can I say. If you can’t cook a basic spaghetti dish you should close the doors. No kidding they had no spaghetti noodles. The noodle substitute was fine, however the sauce was plain and had no taste and I’m not sure where they found...the Parmesan Cheese. The Parmesan cheese came out in a cold drinking glass. It appears as if they have lost their passion for cooking and it’s just a job.More

Went to eat a couple of weeks ago.... The food was decent and I enjoyed the pepperoni pizza which I highly recommended .however the food went to the second place as what I couldn''t tolerate was the attitude of a Big Chef who was screaming...like an animal rudely to the waitress staff. I have basic Italian and I could understand that was giving out to her. This couldn't be accepted in a democratic Country like Ireland. I wish the management will read this to calm him down as there his nothing that disgust me more than his behaviour. and this damages the image of Il Fornaio as well as it's a well established restaurant in Dublin.. The lovely girl when she went to get the order she was almost crying. .. Unacceptable!More

I had been told many fantastic things about this restaurant but had never been able to visit in person, below is a review from my father who had expected the same standard of service and quality that he had been accustomed to receiving pre-Covid. I...used to be a frequent visitor to "Il Fornaio", pre-Covid, and thought highly of the place. I took my family there last night with great expectations. Roberto, the chef, was on a night off, unfortunately, as I had boasted his ability and talent. We started with a shared platter of salamis and cold meats, which was, though poorly presented and thrown together, of great quality and very tasty. A bottle of Nero d'Avola, reasonably priced at €32, was also very satisfying. A pasta and mushroom dish followed, looking like a dark brown mess on the plate, and tasting very coarse and heavy. No effort at presentation, more like slops at a school canteen. Pizzas followed in a heavy, doughy, shapeless mess. Hints of cheese and tomato failing to get though the dryness of overcooked chorizo. The lucky person with the Calzone was the only one to manage more than half. Some sense of clumsy effort here, and a lot less dry and heavy, though still an overly doughy base. Deserts, which used to be lovely, came ready made and tasted as though they had sat in the display cabinet longer than one would have wished. A chocolate cake was terribly dry and stale, and Tiramisu, mostly cream, no texture, and clearly not fresh, served effortlessly in the plastic box from the factory. A taste of each was enough and they also got removed from the table uneaten. Service was of a matching standard to this unfortunate experience. A young surly waiter clearly didn't want to be there. We had to ask four times for a jug of water, and similarly for anything else. Poor English is no excuse for not trying. Previous waitresses in the place had varying levels of English, but never let that hinder perfect service. This young man appears to have had little to no training in his job, and clearly had no interest in our experience, which is why, exceptionally, I share it here instead. I am sorely disappointed with this place, of which I used to speak so highly. SébastienMore

The service was very good. The waiter was kind, quick, and upfront. The outdoor seating looked rustic but the walls surrounding the seats were dirty. The seats are very close to each other and my date and I sat beside someone who was smoking for...the majority of our stay. The proportion of the food was great, however, slightly too salty and greasy. Good price, though. Overall, might only come again when indoor seating is allowed.More
