Myself and my partner asked a local Taxi driver for a recommendation for somewhere to eat, the kingfisher came highly recommended and it honestly didn’t disappoint. This place is by far one of the best fish and chips I’ve had and is arguably the best in Dublin.
Highly recommend this place not only to locals but to tourists too! 👌🏻

The fisherman's pie came within minutes, which normally isn't a good sign. However, the taste did not disappoint. Veggies a bit too mushy but tasted fresh. Very lovely chips though.
Very friendly staff.
When I saw the fish and chips that other customers had ordered I made the promise to myself to come back again when in Dublin and if it tastes as great as it looked give a 5 star rating.
Definitely worth a visit.

This is a family run restaurant which I have passed numerous times but have never eaten here. After a performance at the Gate, we decided to eat here and we were very glad we did Great compliance with Covid regulations, checked certificates and ID, all tables and chairs immediately cleaned once vacated. I had a gorgeous smoked coley and proper chips, daughters had burgers and fish and chips and granddaughter had chicken nuggets. Everything was top notch, really fresh cooking and do reasonable. Bill for us all with soft drinks was just over 50 euro. Amazing value and lovely service!

For this restaurant to state/claim that they serve 'Dublin's Best Fish and Chips' is a very bold statement, and certainly one that is very much up for debate.
Curious by this claim, i tried the fish and chips, which at 15 Euros is bloody expensive as i only pay half of that in England and they are alot better both taste wise and portion wise.
Not to mention that I also have to agree with what others have said on here with regards to the fish being really oily, which it was, it was literally dripping of oil as soon as you cut into it as the taste of the fish was not the best. And the portion of chips was also on the not so generous side. I also stated that i did not want peas, yet for some reason i had a pea puree placed on my plate (see photo).
Very disappointing as they are falsely claiming something that simply is not true.
If this is the place that sets the benchmark for where you get the best fish and chips in Dublin, then Dublin is not the place to go for fish and chips, which is a shame as Dublin is a lovely city, yet this place lets it down somewhat.
Save yourself the disappointment, save your fingers from being covered in oil, an also save yourself some Euros - eat somewhere else!
I will never eat lunch/dinner here again.
I know that the manager(s) of this place read these reviews, an rightly so, but it is all well and good saying 'sorry', an telling these reviewers/customers, that have left less than commendable reviews, that they would be 'welcomed back', but like me, i doubt they would go back, 1 bad experience somewhere no matter where it is in the world does not make you think, i know, i will go back there - take it on their merit that their review means they will not be back.
My advice to the manager(s) reading this is to cut the apologies and future expectancies and do something about what is becoming a recurring theme, after all, actions speak louder than words.

We went for dinner at about 5:30, things were not too busy and we were seated quickly, but while the food was decent and reasonable value the staff seemed utterly confused about potential allergens. I asked about an allergy, was told there was no concern, ordered then had the server come back and tell me the chef wasn't sure and suggested I order again. When desert came around and I asked again the server seemed to be guessing off the top of his head and when I asked them to ask the kitchen the response was, more or less, "dunno".
Really gives the impression they either don't care for the health of their customers or else have no idea what they are putting in their food.

It’s all true!!
Kingfisher has an extensive menu and certainly is not just a ‘fish and chips’ restaurant. Perfectly grilled fish and tasty battered options combined with lasagne and many kids options.
Wonderful staff, friendlier than the next, service delivered with great chat and delightful atmosphere, this restaurant is definitely worth checking out.
Grilled cod is incredible.

The King Fishers certainly does the best chips in Dublin but perhaps they should stick to that.
Burger was bland and flavourless. The chocolate brownie was inedible it tasted like a dry piece of sponge cake that was baked 3 days ago and left open then heated to 120 degrees.

Myself and my wife call into the kingfisher now and then, yesterday I had the smoked cooley, my wife had fresh cod, we both had chips and coffee. The bill was 43 euros, absolutely great value, large helpings and delicious, friendly staff, highly recommended.
What I wouldn't recommend is buying beer here. Last time I ordered two pints of Bulmers, what came to the table was two, .330 small bottles at 13 euro, 13 euro is the dearest pint I ever bought in my life, stay away from the beer here.

We ended up eating here twice. The first time, I had Haddock and Chips, and Chris had a child's portion of Chips with Curried Chicken. The second time, Chris had the Haddock, and I had a burger. On both nights the service was good, and the food really tasty - no oily batter, and chicken and burger moist and tasty. Both nights the chips were perfectly cooked.

We went for dinner on a Sunday night, when the restaurant was exceptionally open (presumably because of a major final at Croke Park in the p.m.). There are a few specials every day, but they seem to be largely the same week in week out... My haddock was simply too dry (overcooked?) and served with two lemon slices without any sauce. Service was a little disorganized - the orders were taken quickly, one dish arrived quickly the other after a more lengthy wait, one order of drink for our daughter was forgotten..

The restaurant advertises itself as offering the best fish and chips in all of Dublin. Since I wanted to eat some anyway, I gave it a chance. I first thought of the classic fish and chips in newspaper, but here they offer boxes and they are not cut pieces of fish. The fish is breaded as a whole first and then deep fried. About the box: The portion is very generous. It could easily eat 2 people from it. For 10€ in Dublin a round thing. The fish tasted very juicy and also not dripping with fat. At least it was not frozen, which I find really good for the price. The fries were also not sloppy, but also not crispy. Nevertheless, quite tasty. The tartar sauce was tasty too, but I missed some lemon on the fish, then the fish, which incidentally had no bones, would have been very good. The crispy breading should not be underestimated.
For the big hunger definitely recommended, otherwise the store offers all sorts of other fast food to go.

We ate here twice and the service was prompt and cheerful and the food was tasty and done the way we wanted. One night I had the spicy wings and the second time I had the fish and chips. Both meals were more than satisfying. The staff was continuously doing something, serving, cleaning tables or otherwise keeping busy. We enjoyed our visits to the Kingfisher and recommend giving it a try.

We went on a 13-day tour of Ireland (Northern and Republic of) and sampled plenty of chowders all over, but none were as great as the chowder here at Kingfisher. We made sure to go back before leaving for home. Well worth the stop!

This restaurant was very close to our hotel, so naturally, it made sense to try it - and I'm so glad we did. I think we ate here 4 times in our 3-day trip to Dublin.
The fish/scampi and chips are superb. The fish is fresh and the portions are huge.
I can also highly recommend the proper chips with cheddar cheese and curry sauce!
