We had steak on the stone and it was fantastic. Nicest we have had. Our waiter Kevin couldn’t do enough for us. Highly recommend 🙌🏻 Complimentary taster starters also added a lovely touch. Will definitely be back

We ate at the Abbey Bar while staying a night at The Abbey Hotel. Kieran, the Bar Manager, waited on us and did a great job with recommendations on different ciders. The food was delicious as well as the service. We also stayed to hear...the band play that night. It was an added bonus to hear some traditional Irish music.More

Ann Boyle (Market House Restaurant Manager) was easily the most friendly and helpful person in her position whom I have had the pleasure to meet while travelling! Despite the main restaurant being closed, Ann went completely out of her way to accommodate our party of...four with a reserved table in the hotel pub that evening. Additionally, Ann ensured (with the chef's help) that a requested item (which is normally not on the pub menu) was available to us to order as well. Thanks to Ann (and our great waitress Hannah) our party had a most memorable experience in Donegal that evening and will be sure to make it back there someday soon!More

Oh man, I can’t say enough about the lovely experience we had here. Incredible atmosphere, great food, and the best service. Sandra was beyond awesome! I would absolutely come here again, and if you do, you’ll not be disappointed. They surprised the heck out of...my wife and I in the best way. Thank you so much Sandra, for an unforgettable dining experience.More

We randomly stopped in here for dinner but we were so glad we did! The food was some of the best we had during our entire 12 day vacation. HIGHLY recommend the cheese cake for dessert! I was scraping my plate wishing I’d ordered two!...Our server Nadine was absolutely lovely as well and did a truly fantastic job. Definitely worth a stop here if you’re in Donegal!More

Four very tired Americans wondered into Donegal on our first evening in Ireland, ever. We didn’t realize how busy it would be and discovered that every restaurant was fully booked. Perhaps the busiest place of all was The Market House. Nonetheless, a dear woman took...pity on us and seated us after a 10 minute wait. No doubt, those 4 pints of Guinness were the best beers of our lives! Next, we ordered a charcuterie board for 2 that more than satisfied the 4 of us as an appetizer. Great selection of cheeses & meats, but the highlight on the board was the Wheaten Bread. We discovered that the bread is made in-house and can be purchased by the loaf, which we did multiple times over our 2 week stay in Donegal. Incredible bread. Three of us had burgers and chips, one had fish and chips. All quite good and will be remembered by the four of us because of the kindness of the hostess and the other staff at the Market House.More

Decor absolutely stunning, great ambience. Menu lots of choice. Very generous portions of delicious food and alcohol. Great value for quality. What makes this place stand out would be the staff and service. Warmly greeted on arrival by the manager, seated quickly in a corner...booth. Served by Sandra doing the menu order and think Richard on the drinks. Both very attentive, welcoming and friendly. Great atmosphere and buzz for a Saturday night. Very impressed.More

Recently visited the Market House restaurant with a number of Canadian work colleagues. I wanted to showcase Donegal so I couldn’t look past this restaurant. They were blown away by the service provided by Anne, Kevin and Emma (our waitress) who all couldn’t do enough...for us. We all opted for the Steak on the Stone which everyone has to try when visiting Donegal. (There is also great fish and vegan options on the menu) Donegal town is spoilt for choice when it comes to dining, but the setting, service and food in the Market House is unmatched.More
