Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fast, friendly service. Very comfortable seating and clean toilets. The lunch menu was varied and everything we had was delicious and well presented. Prices are consistent with the area. Some tap beer we had not run across before.

Very glad to have visited this pub for a lovely lunch. I got the fish and my partner got the Irish stew. Both meals were lovely and the Irish stew a real standout. The service was friendly and attentive. They also have a good selection...of local beers. I would certainly recommend this place and hope to go back one day.More

We all loved our meals. Best beef sandwich in recent memory! The open salmon prawn sandwich was amazingly fresh and tasty.

When I was visiting Donegal Town, I happened to be close to this restaurant while wondering where to get some lunch. Upon entering, I knew I had picked the right place. This restaurant was truly something wonderful- the atmosphere was quiet and the staff were...all very friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely fresh and delicious, with each dish cooked to perfection. It's certainly a great place to relax and enjoy one's time, and I would gladly go to this restaurant again should I visit Donegal Town in the future.More

We visited this restaurant tonight as we have have enjoyed food there befor and the reviews for the restaurant are great. . Our experience tonight was absolutely awful I was very embarrassed by the behaviour of the elderly waitress. I visited with husband daughter and...niece. We ordered mussels to share as a starter followed by venison pie. The kids ordered from the children’s menu. The mussels arrived the sauce/soup had diced raw garlic and the cream looked curdled in the wine/broth they the mussels were served in. I overlooked that but then more than half the bowl of mussels were unopened. We said to our server who was really apologetic when an elderly blond haired waitress started to shout across the restaurant that the mussels were fresh and they were fine. She said she would speak to the chef and returned to say that the chef would cool them more she had her voice raised and everyone in the restaurant was looking at us. She insisted the mussels were fine and said the chef would cook them longer. As everyone knows you do not eat mussels that are unopened. We very embarrassed by how she firstly came and interfered and secondly how she dealt with the matter. Our own server was lovely and very apologetic. Our main course arrived and the venison pie was great but neither of us enjoyed it as there as such an awful that I could hardly swallow my food. No one came near us again and it was like we were being ostracised. Anyway we had ordered a €28 bottle of wine that we ended up taking away with us as neither of us felt comfortable enough to sit and finish it. We also did not order desert as we were made to feel so unwelcome that we paid our bill and went back to the Abbey Hotel for deserts. Never again have never had such bad customer service anywhere else in Donegal. If you want good seafood go to the Harbour Bar they have amazing mussels (we eat there the previous night).More

Food was fine and the bar was not at all crowded . Plenty of room. All was clean and we enjoyed it apart from the somewhat surly staff/ not nasty - just disinterested.

Very disappointing the quality of the food has gone down and also the cleanliness . Black mold in bathroom and needs good cleaning! Tabasco sauce had water mixed in with and was nasty and no flavor whatsoever. Seafood chowder with tiny tiny pieces of fish...and no shellfish in it at all! This place was always a favorite and we never missed stopping in but will no more 😔More
