Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This has a high rating for good reason. Although the entrance doesn’t oooze quality, the lovely food and great friendly service is what makes it stand out. The meals are freshly cooked and they really taste good with great flavour. The cook visited the table...and told us about the food and then helped clear up. They work hard here and it shows - well done, you delivered a great experience for usMore

Been about a year since we last ordered takeaway. Has significantly dropped in standard. Ordered the prawn toast. 6.95 for what was effectively a single piece of white bread. Also ordered the chicken cas-nut for 13.50. Half full container with no veg. Frankly terrible value...for moment and won't go back again.More

A breath of fresh air. I've tried 7-10 menu options and they have all been fantastic. Menu is refreshingly honest and true to the authentic nature of the food. I'm a bit of a drive away but it's always worth it

We stumbled in here, out of the heavy rain, without a booking and they very kindly gave us a table with the proviso we leave within the hour. They don't really cater for vegans but made a plain stir fry with tofu for me which...was tasty. My husband was happy with his sizzling prawn dish. There was a nice atmosphere and our waitress was friendly and helpful.More

Didn't book as Monday eve quiet. What a lovely place and great aromas as we walked in. David looked after us and was a lovely and relaxed guy. I had mixed seafood curry and price for all mains incl rice so very good value. David...asked me about level of spice which I like fairly hot 🔥 and chef got it spot on. Consisted of prawns, squid, mussels and white fish. Was to die for. My pal had red prawn curry and flavours were so authentic. The prawns were very large and succulent. This is a dish she always orders in Asian restaurants and here was the best version by far. I myself have been to Thailand 11 times and I must say this was very authentic. What surprises me are some bad reviews for little or no reason. One person was talking mainly about 6/7 years ago!!!! Perhaps people can read between the lines when it comes to some ridiculous reviews. Someone critical of size of premises. How ridiculous is that. It is a very welcoming and warm venue . People comparing prices etc with THAI restaurants in Cork City. Well there are NO Thais in the city. Any Asian fusion places in the city are not true Thai and rarely authentic. I am from west of the city but I will be coming back regularly to Golden Elephant for sure by busMore

Slow to bitrate anyone trying to earn a living but the setting is horrendous, this restaurant has very few tables all within unavoidable touching distance of each other. You are actively involved in the conversations of the adjoining tables whether you wish to or not...and I certainly was not. In my humble opinion each individual dining space is unpleasantly restrictive and intrusive. This restaurant has a very active take away trade and one dining table is actually in the reception area, with all the people waiting to collect take away !! you may as well eat on the public street ! Another table is just inside the passage way to the tiny dining room, where customers and staff alike require to walk past you and can't really avoid impeding on your personal space. The young waitress was pleasant but seriously untrained for a restaurant setting and the food was "mah" nothing wrong with it but equally nothing special about it, The starters looked processed and the choice was very limited unless you are very comfortable with spicy heat. I've eaten better Asian food in Cork at a similar price range, with a better menu choice and in far better settings. Every review is a snap shot in time of your personal experience and ours certainly was not great, the prices charged are not cheap and I personally expect more from a dining experience. I was not in any way impressed, just for the ambiance alone I most definitely would never dine in again. Maybe a take away if your a local and even then !!!!!More

I was one of their first customers in 2014. I was a regular customer. I have spent thousands at this restaurant. I am celiac it is limiting to where I can eat. I quite liked the restaurant to begin with and was regular several years....I did attend at times 3 times a week sometimes ordering 3 different dishes, but usually 2 dishes for take away. Of course in those times, things weren't always satisfactory. One time back in 2016/17 I had ordered 3 dishes of my regular and was never informed how the tofu which I loved had been changed to the more bland non crispy type. The point is as such a regular customer there may of been a several times I made a minor complaint and it was dealt with satisfactorily . I remember waiting outside for nearly a n hour in the car with my new baby when I was told 15 mins. These all were minor thongs I brushed aside. However I feel worth mentioning after my treatment from restaurant yesterday. Yesterday I ordered a dish that I have eaten twice in restaurant before, and had at least twice for take away. So I knew and liked it. This time however is was so laden with salt I couldn't eat it. I had only eaten a couple of bites it was so salty. I was annoyed, as I don't eat there much now these days and I don't see why i should pay for something that was not fit for consumption. I called waiter, he said sorry. I expected to be refunded so emailed instead. My phone was off when I turned it on I got 3 missed call and a text. I called the number of text message. It was waiter he was pleasant and refunded and I thought that was the end of that. I called the missed call number because at that stage I did not know who it was. It was the owner who asked did I have chili paste mixed in with dish. I didn't and told him that the paste was fine, it was the dish. I explained it was way too salty. He disputed this, said I complained before. I said I don't think I ever asked for a refund. He basically was telling me I was wrong. He said Cheft pre made it and would have tasted it. I said well I have had this dish before and it was fine. I felt he was a little irate and critical. I have been one of their best customers for first few years. I say I spent more in there than any regular customer. I am a big foodie and visit a lot of restaurants. I rarely go to this restaurant in last few years as standard has slipped. Its definitely not on same level as it was in 2014. I didn't feel it was necessary to be so critical to a once very good customer. Its unlikely I will return again. Pity as I had some nice memories there, but I won't be spoken to in such a way. I said fine you want to tell me I am wrong and you are right. The best of restaurants will get it wrong at times, and criticism is always good. I would sincerely say the level of salt in that dish was far too much and I stand by it. As the old proverb goes 'the customer is always right'. That would have gone such a long way. I had recommended this place to many when it opened, now Id say don't bother.More

Myself and my went to golden elephant to celebrate our anniversary dinner. We were warmly greeted by a lovely waitress, who catered to our needs. The food was so good, a wide variety menu. The smells coming out of the kitchen were amazing! It is...a cleat that this restaurant uses fresh food and high quality spices etc. I will definitely be visiting again soon as I am already craving their spring rolls!!More

Lol! The city is not full of amazing restaurants. There are currently no Thai restaurants in the city centre, only Asian Street food rubbish. Bus will take you to restaurant from city centre for under 2 euro.
