Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely disgusting from this bar owner today! I had heard some bad stories about the owners of this place but I didn’t believe them until now. I went for 3 drinks with my mother, my girlfriend and my 3 year old son today after shopping...because of the nice weather . My son was as good as gold. When I went to get our last drink before heading away at 6.10pm the proprietor told me “you’re better off heading away, your child has been here too long and this is an adult environment” . I went to collect my sons buggy and told the owner how rude he was to say that after we spending our money there. He replied that it was after 6pm and children shouldn’t be near the bar after then. Another younger bar man came out behind the bar and needlessly confronted me for expressing my views to the owner. I left and I will never be back here again. A shocking and rude display from the owner- never again will I set foot here.More

Pretty disappointed, as my first pub to have a refreshment in Cork, I had 1 pint and 2 double whiskeys on rocks, watching the Ireland vs England rugby match, after buying a double whiskey which had cost me 22 euros, I sat by a table...accidently knocking a lady's drink over, I had replaced the drink for the lady no problem which had cost me 10 euros and 50 cents, all together spending around 60 euros with them and was told to drink my drink and leave for absoulutly no reason at all! After spending over 50 euro from this money grabing pub, I will never be returning a visit there again, and as far as recommendations go, this pub is on the bottom of my list! No thanks at all!More

After ordering drinks we waiting at the bar. We got one drink and waited for the other for quite a long time. It was a hot drink and the night was busy so we were considerate and waited. Another member of staff asked if we...were alright as he saw us waiting. I stated we had ordered and were waiting for a drink but did not ask him to get it. He kindly got the drink but in the meantime the first bartender that served us came back with the drink. He got very angry and raised his voice accusing us of ordering from someone else when he had already taken the order. We tried to tell him this was not what happened, we only said what we were waiting for when asked, but he would not listen. He continued to raise his voice and repeat himself saying he’d have to throw the drink down the sink. It caused quite a ruckus. He ruined our night and we will never again return to this bar after going there for the last five years.More

Extremely disappointed tonight with the customer service we received from an extremely senior member of staff. Myself and my friend were sitting in the far right corner at the back of the bar. We were surrounded by lots of tiny flies. Several customers who were...not locals moved because of them. We told a barman who came and sprayed the shelf and wiped it with a cloth. A few mins later they were back again. When we were leaving, my friend politely showed the senior member of staff her pint glass, into which 3 flies had landed while she went to the bathroom, to which he replied they must like Coors light. I was still putting on my coat, so as I walked up she was walking away and I was stunned to see the said staff member make a face at her. I said no need to make faces, she is making a legitimate complaint, I am a regular customer and have never seen this before. We are making you aware if it so it can be rectified., He denied making a face but i witnessed it first hand . What a shame for a pub that has such a reputation to treat customers now like this. Unfortunately your next generation of staff will not have the same level of customer service as those before them. I am one dissatisfied customer tonight.More

Extremely racist and sexist owner!!!! The minute he realised we were foreigners he treated us in a disgusting way, I have been living in cork for 7 years and I had never felt so discriminated!! Pub was super busy so we were standing as half...of the people in there, we were asked to sit down or leave while other people (Irish) had no problem with standing. You own a hospitality business, please learn how to treat people with respect!More

Went here for a drink before going to the opera house due to its proximity. 17:80 for a glass of wine and a pint of moretti. I tried to get the bartenders attention to see if a mistake was made but couldn’t get his attention...again. 10:50 for a glass of ok wine which made my pint of moretti 7:30. Complete rip-off. Maybe I’m out on f touch but I would avoid this place.More

A buddy and I stopped by mid-afternoon for a couple of pints of Guinness. The atmosphere inside was great, and the Guinness was wonderful, of course. The staff were very friendly. Lots of locals were stopping in while we were there, it seemed. The restaurant...was very clean as well. We are so glad we found this place!More

After asking successfully a table OUTSIDE for 2 and 2 dogs, as soon as the maitre saw dogs he sent us away in bad way. Ignorance, borishness and hate for animals. Keep away from this bar, there are plenty of nice bar and pubs in...ireland, one like this just deserves to close.More

Le Chateau is the only pub on the main thoroughfare Patrick’s Street in Cork City. In doors or outdoors a great place to have a drink in the centre of Cork for both locals & tourists alike, I recommend this place highly.

I was lured straight in by the quirky concept - a mixture of an Irish pub and a French pavement café. Now, I can’t complain about the drinks - they were fine, and prices were average for Ireland - no more than you would pay...in most Dublin pubs, for example. Admittedly, the staff were not especially rude with me, but I got hints of the hostility which other non-Irish reviewers have experienced here. I’ve lived in Ireland for 4 years, and I acknowledge that there’s a lot to be said for old-fashioned pubs where the proprietors rule with an iron fist - we have plenty of those where I’m from. But this is 2022. I appreciate the proprietors are quite elderly, but they must be aware that many patrons will be new to Cork city and perhaps even new to Ireland altogether - right now this pub doesn’t give the best first impression of either.More

Myself and my partner decided to go for a drink here on Saturday night as we had not been there in a few years. Usually I think this is a lovely pub but not anymore. The bar was busy but we saw two seats towards...the back. As we made our way down there the barman (I think owner, an older man) started shouting at us that he wouldn’t serve us. We were lost for words and extremely confused as to what he was saying. We calmly asked him what he was on about but he persisted to shout at us that he wasn’t going to serve us and started pointing at another group. We tried to tell him that we weren’t with that group that we had just walked in and walking towards two spare seats. Two lovely men sitting at the bar watching all this turned to the barman and confirmed with him that we had just walked in not with anyone else. The barman apologised but too little too late. Myself and my partner are in our mid twenties- did he just think he could talk to us this way because we are young? Extremely rude and discriminative I’ve never been shouted at like that before. I will certainly not returning there and will ensure that anyone I talk to will know about this.More
