Every single part of my experience at Orso was positive. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional and accommodating. There was a 40 minute wait for a table, which I had no issue with at all. The friendly host took my number down and said he would call me when the table was ready; which he did exactly 40 minutes later. We were seated and instantly were given menus and table water - this is a big thing I notice when out dining. We were given the specials of the day which the waitress was able to recount quickly and in depth; showing she really knew what she was talking about. Once we ordered, our drinks were handed to us within only a few minutes and the food we ordered came out within 20 minutes. For a busy restaurant, that was exemplary! The food was moist, tender and full of flavour. We then had a chocolate board to share for our dessert. My god, was it tasty. The food was well priced at an average of €8 for a starter, €19 for a main and €8-€10 for a dessert. Cocktails were only €10! I can not recommend Orso enough. 10/10 for food, staff and price. I’ll definitely be back.

This is a small restaurant so getting a table when you walk in requires luck or arriving at an off - peak time but it's really worth checking out. It's relaxed with very friendly staff and an interesting menu where halloumi cheese and fab salads abound. The options are flexible, allowing you to add or mix salads, each with an ethnic feel to them. The surroundings are snug, colorful and quirky and this place will suit couples or casual meetings best.

The food was absolutely delicious, well balanced and put together small plates made to compliment each other and to share - if you can manage! I understand the appeal of the small restaurant, however after a long busy day it was clear they were understaffed and/or running out of quite a few things. Us 5 all went to order desserts only to be told they only had 1 left. A shame but didn't ruin the meal, we had yum espresso cocktails instead! The cocktails were good but they took quite some time to arrive. Would definitely return maybe for an earlier sitting.

Visited Cork and liked the look of Orsu, however we rang and were told that they would not take a booking over the phone, we would need to physically call in and they would place our names on a list. Arriving half a hour later at 7 and after walking 1km, we were told it would be after nine before we could eat. I don't know if someone made a mistake, but had the person answering the phone had simply said they were busy and it would be a long wait, there would have been no need for this review and we may have returned at a future date.

Very disappointing. Portion sizes very small compared to previous visits. Really only suitable for tapas as we were starving after our meal which consisted of saucer size portions which we’re over priced for their size. Staff were very helpful & welcoming but will not be returning.

My partner decided to try something different-mushroom and nut bake. It was inedible. I ordered monkfish of the day which was apparently sea bass and it literally felt like they wrapped a leaf around it and left it in the oven and threw some lemons on it- literally a max 5euro meal (actually even less as it was disgusting), and it was 20euros. The prices cannot be explained-wayy to much for basic and bland food. The server was nice though. Felt almost upset after dinner as it was our 1year anniversary and I wanted to take him out for a nice dinner,

The place is cool, the people working there are cool, the concept is cool - unfortunately the food and the drinks were somewhere between mediocre and pretty bad. We had ordered 7 small plates to share, all of them were somehow disappointing and all of them were lukewarm or cold. The only one that was tasty and hot was the seventh one (chicken wings) which they had forgotten to order, proving that the kitchen is able to bring out hot food. It took forever to serve our Gin Tonic (Hendricks spoiled by a piece of lime instead of cucumber), unfortunately with warm tonic and not enough ice. Honestly: I don't understand all the good reviews. Either we had a very bad day (Saturday early evening, usually a prime time for restaurants) or the other reviewer had a lucky day. We certainly had better dinners in Cork.

I've called the restaurant for a reservation but they explained to me they didn't take reservations over the phone. They estimated an hour and a half to two hours from the moment I had called, I agreed and said we'd be there in about that time. So I prepared my self and my family to have a late dinner that night. We showed up at the restaurant one hour and a half later, I went to the host and explained that I was the one that called before and asked the estimated time to be seated. He answered the exact same lines that he did before over the phone, the wait to be seated was one hour and a half to two hours. I explained to him I came from far with my family, that it was already too late to have dinner at any other place, but he didn't seem to get what I was saying, not to mention that there was no intention to offer me a solution Whatever the reasons or the politics of the restaurant on how they manage their customer service they made me feel totally unwelcome. And although the have certification discs on the door and probably have an excellent kitchen their customer service is pretty distant from the status and cache they presume.

Beautiful lunch using the new outdoor seating. Had the Chicken Sharma on Flatbread. Tender spicy chicken with red onions, hummus and lots of other delicious things. Service was very friendly despite the place being very busy with take away orders as well

When I eat out it’s always joy to be served food that I wouldn’t cook myself and that is delicious and exciting. That is my experience at Orso. Last night tired and hungry after shopping, myself and my friend were looked after by a friendly waitress. It’s a small place, lit mainly with candles, and with an impressive wine rack. I ordered oyster mushrooms which I’ve never had before . They arrived in an amazing creamy sauce and were topped with a refreshing almost raw courgette spaghetti in a zesty dressing. A little bowl of delicately mint flavoured brown rice graced the side. Oh wow! Every mouthful was a delight to the senses! Succulent mushrooms cooked to perfection and all the different elements working so well together. Honestly Cook, well done and thank you 🙏 Such a pleasure after a day in hectic Cork. The only thing I found a little less than perfect was the volume of the music. I’m guessing it was that loud to give everyone privacy, and after the initial response I did get used to it. It’s definitely my favourite place to eat in Cork, classy yet accessible, and with super wonderful food.

It was a horrible rainy night and we were walking down the main food area in Cork looking for something to eat, We went in here on chance and must have arrived just before everyone came looking for a meal, as soon as we sat down there was a steady flow arrived, all looking for dinner and the average wait time was about an hour. We were sat at the bar - a little cold due to the door draft, but not too unpleasant, but we were glad to be sat down. We ordered a main course only and a bottle of wine, I had the lamb shank on a cuscus bed and my wife had fish on a flavoured wheat bed - both very north African in taste and very nice. The wine was a nice French Rosie, the general service was attentive, and coupled with a great ambiance made this a very enjoyable evening.

I've been going to Orso for years. I've always loved the food, staff friendly welcome and atmosphere. It's a charming cosy spot. I noticed that the staff were a different bunch tonight which is not out of the ordinary however the waitress with the dark brown hair was abit pushy. There were a few instances like 1. telling us people order 3 plates each. Commenting that 4 plates between 2 people wasn't much 3. Removing plates from the table without asking us ( badic stuff)and 4.......asking us do we want to leave a tip with card or cash!!!!That's an actual disgrace. My friend and i were scrambling around for coins as we were so embarassed by the question. The guy running the decks was sound...Nothing was a problem but due to these few things I wouldn't be rushing back. Its the small things that count in a dining experience. It was our first time out since covid 19 and we just wanted to relax and enjoy without the above.

When we got into the hotel we wanted a light meal in a ‘hole in the wall sort of place.’ The hotel suggested Orso’s and it was good with lots of GF and vegetarian options. I had the salad bowl which had a mixture of 4 salads and topped it with hummus.

My partner and I headed down to Cork for the Jazz festival and even though facing a crowded city, we had the pleasant surprise to find a booking slot and eat at the Orso restaurant. Since the very beginning the staff demonstrated to be very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious and really well made. Highly recommend this place for couples night.

One of my favourite spots in Cork city, particularly if im solo. Service is always consistent, the maitre d owns the cafe is inviting attentive and has a natural hospitality flare which is quite rare these days. Menu is always tasty and very good value.
