Wonderful little gem off the beaten path. I recommend making a booking it is very small. We got lucky and without a booking we sat outside. They are short staffed which caused delay with getting our food but once it came it was delicious. Had the bread with sweet pea humus and dukka. We enjoyed the roasted cauliflower and spicy prawns and broccoli salad. Husband had the fish of the day.

It was a horrible rainy night and we were walking down the main food area in Cork looking for something to eat, We went in here on chance and must have arrived just before everyone came looking for a meal, as soon as we sat down there was a steady flow arrived, all looking for dinner and the average wait time was about an hour. We were sat at the bar - a little cold due to the door draft, but not too unpleasant, but we were glad to be sat down. We ordered a main course only and a bottle of wine, I had the lamb shank on a cuscus bed and my wife had fish on a flavoured wheat bed - both very north African in taste and very nice. The wine was a nice French Rosie, the general service was attentive, and coupled with a great ambiance made this a very enjoyable evening.

Excellent restaurant, great service, outstanding food. We were a party of 8 so booked in advance as it's not a big place. Well worth it and good value for the amazing, mostly seafood dishes that we had plus cocktails which went down well.

A little underwhelming to be honest. Had always loved Orso. Such diverse flavours. Lots of different tastes on every plate. Perfectly balanced with a modern twist. I chose the lentil dish. The 'crispy' chickpeas and sweet potato crisps were on top of the Dahl. The Dahl was only lukewarm, I should have asked for it to be heated up but didn't. The flavour was nice and it was served with a nice flatbread. The whole dish could have been vastly improved with some little side dishes such as a relish, a slaw, pickled cucumber..just some tasty extra textures and flavours. Certainly thought it was overpriced at €21.90.

The place is cool, the people working there are cool, the concept is cool - unfortunately the food and the drinks were somewhere between mediocre and pretty bad. We had ordered 7 small plates to share, all of them were somehow disappointing and all of them were lukewarm or cold. The only one that was tasty and hot was the seventh one (chicken wings) which they had forgotten to order, proving that the kitchen is able to bring out hot food. It took forever to serve our Gin Tonic (Hendricks spoiled by a piece of lime instead of cucumber), unfortunately with warm tonic and not enough ice. Honestly: I don't understand all the good reviews. Either we had a very bad day (Saturday early evening, usually a prime time for restaurants) or the other reviewer had a lucky day. We certainly had better dinners in Cork.

When I eat out it’s always joy to be served food that I wouldn’t cook myself and that is delicious and exciting. That is my experience at Orso. Last night tired and hungry after shopping, myself and my friend were looked after by a friendly waitress. It’s a small place, lit mainly with candles, and with an impressive wine rack. I ordered oyster mushrooms which I’ve never had before . They arrived in an amazing creamy sauce and were topped with a refreshing almost raw courgette spaghetti in a zesty dressing. A little bowl of delicately mint flavoured brown rice graced the side. Oh wow! Every mouthful was a delight to the senses! Succulent mushrooms cooked to perfection and all the different elements working so well together. Honestly Cook, well done and thank you 🙏 Such a pleasure after a day in hectic Cork. The only thing I found a little less than perfect was the volume of the music. I’m guessing it was that loud to give everyone privacy, and after the initial response I did get used to it. It’s definitely my favourite place to eat in Cork, classy yet accessible, and with super wonderful food.

We had a counter table, which was highly enjoyable and allowed us to see the very proficient mixologist making brilliant cocktails. Food was wonderful. Cauliflower starter and stuffed courgette flower were really nice. Hake was delicious . I don’t normally have a desert, but the lemon tart was divine. I really appreciated 2 spoons being brought without being asked. The service, from greeting at the door onwards was superb. Professional, yet so friendly. An example to all restaurants.

A great find between Plunkett Street and South Mall. An imaginative, compact lunchtime menu with excellent ingredients. The service is focussed and courteous. This really is a perfect spot for a lunchtime bite with sandwiches that are a notch up from the usual fare - not least because they're made on homemade focaccia. Cannot recommend this place more highly.

Every single part of my experience at Orso was positive. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional and accommodating. There was a 40 minute wait for a table, which I had no issue with at all. The friendly host took my number down and said he would call me when the table was ready; which he did exactly 40 minutes later. We were seated and instantly were given menus and table water - this is a big thing I notice when out dining. We were given the specials of the day which the waitress was able to recount quickly and in depth; showing she really knew what she was talking about. Once we ordered, our drinks were handed to us within only a few minutes and the food we ordered came out within 20 minutes. For a busy restaurant, that was exemplary! The food was moist, tender and full of flavour. We then had a chocolate board to share for our dessert. My god, was it tasty. The food was well priced at an average of €8 for a starter, €19 for a main and €8-€10 for a dessert. Cocktails were only €10! I can not recommend Orso enough. 10/10 for food, staff and price. I’ll definitely be back.

My partner and I headed down to Cork for the Jazz festival and even though facing a crowded city, we had the pleasant surprise to find a booking slot and eat at the Orso restaurant. Since the very beginning the staff demonstrated to be very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious and really well made. Highly recommend this place for couples night.

My partner decided to try something different-mushroom and nut bake. It was inedible. I ordered monkfish of the day which was apparently sea bass and it literally felt like they wrapped a leaf around it and left it in the oven and threw some lemons on it- literally a max 5euro meal (actually even less as it was disgusting), and it was 20euros. The prices cannot be explained-wayy to much for basic and bland food. The server was nice though. Felt almost upset after dinner as it was our 1year anniversary and I wanted to take him out for a nice dinner,

When we got into the hotel we wanted a light meal in a ‘hole in the wall sort of place.’ The hotel suggested Orso’s and it was good with lots of GF and vegetarian options. I had the salad bowl which had a mixture of 4 salads and topped it with hummus.

Very disappointing. Portion sizes very small compared to previous visits. Really only suitable for tapas as we were starving after our meal which consisted of saucer size portions which we’re over priced for their size. Staff were very helpful & welcoming but will not be returning.

Beautiful lunch using the new outdoor seating. Had the Chicken Sharma on Flatbread. Tender spicy chicken with red onions, hummus and lots of other delicious things. Service was very friendly despite the place being very busy with take away orders as well

This is a small restaurant so getting a table when you walk in requires luck or arriving at an off - peak time but it's really worth checking out. It's relaxed with very friendly staff and an interesting menu where halloumi cheese and fab salads abound. The options are flexible, allowing you to add or mix salads, each with an ethnic feel to them. The surroundings are snug, colorful and quirky and this place will suit couples or casual meetings best.
