My husband and I visited the Glass Curtain this past weekend to celebrate my birthday. I have been so excited to try this restaurant as my husband and I love trying nice new restaurants whenever we can. This was at the top of my list....I’ll start by saying that the food did not disappoint. We went for the à la cart menu rather than the tasting menu, as those options appealed to us more, but it is great to have the option of the two menus. The food was amazing. I cannot fault it one bit from start to finish.
The reason I am taking one star off is because of the encounter at the end of our meal. My husband asked for the bill and when the waiter came over with the card machine, before we could say a word, he asked if we wanted to add €20 onto the bill(for tip). Anytime my husband and I go to a nicer restaurant which we are happy with the food and service, we always leave a tip, but, we did not appreciate that before we could even ask to include it ourselves, the waiter basically insisted that we add €20 tip. Tipping should be at the customer’s discretion. After a beautiful meal, we left annoyed at the cheek of the waiter. Management- please stop your stuff from doing this. It almost made us not want to leave any tip at all. We felt very pressured in the moment. And left the tip, but also left the restaurant with a sour taste. Please allow your guest, who are already spending a good bit of money in the restaurant, to tip if they want, and the amount that they would like. This is the first review I have ever left at a restaurant, but I felt this is an issue that will turn people off of the restaurant and needs to be addressed.More
