Went for early evening dinner with no reservation, was accommodated at the bar. Lots of tasty small plates available, had oysters & crispy squid-both excellent. Had red mullet & pollock for mains, again very good although sauce slightly overpowered pollock (personal taste), partner thought it was fine. Like the fact that wine is by the glass, if desired, with tasters available before purchase. Desserts including blood orange posset were perfect for sharing. Service was attentive and helpful when required. Layout is intimate and reminds me a little of Spanish tapas bars I've visited. Well worth a visit if fish is your thing, but make a reservation, lots of walk-ins turned away while we dined. We will certainly be back.

I visited Goldie in September when it had just opened and then went back again in late December on my next visit to Cork. The upper floor of Goldie is now open and makes a very pleasant hideaway with its own bar. The varied dishes using different types of fish are very interesting and innovative, and the service and ambience is excellent. Good luck to Aishling, the young chef and co-owner of Goldie.

Booked on line which is a great service as one can see straight away what’s available. Excellent staff Shared a starter mains if pollack and place perfectly cooked but the pollack could have done with a few more vegetables. Desert some of the best we have had for some time. Decaf coffee very good Overall a very good evening

I really can't say enough about this little restaurant . The food was simply divine, every mouthful was just an explosion of flavour and the service was by far the best service I had received in a very long time. Really impressed and will most definitely return. Clearly a great team working here from Chef to waiting staff.

I left this restaurant saying that this was the best meal I have ever had and on reflection since I stand by it. A fishlover at baseline, but this was a new level. Really enjoy the small boat philosophy of sourcing the fish, and the use of every bit of what they bring in is so important. The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable, and possess the all too rare gift of appearing before you realise you want something without ever seeming like they are hovering unnessarily. The seaweed pakora and breem main were my personal highlights but the menu varies by the catch that day. We sampled a wide variety as we couldn't help ourselves, but even at the end after a 3 course meal with sides and snacks we did not leave with any feeling of stodgyness, just a sense of fulfillment. Certainly somewhere I will be returning to often.

In Cork as part of our 2020 staycation and found this restaurant just by chance. The menu is simple mostly fish but the thought put into it is exceptional. Service is brilliant as our really helpful waiter went through the menu and explained everything to us. My wife claims her meal was the best she has had recently and I really enjoyed mine especially with the local brewed larger

If you want to be mesmerised, entertained, intrigued, and truly excited by food, without breaking the bank, book a table at Goldie, an unassuming little restaurant without airs or notions about itself. It is still difficult to write about it because the experience of eating there was a little overwhelming, leaving me lost for the right words to explain how good it was. So instead here is a step by step. Your menu is already on the table when you are seated. A new menu is produced every day. It was 90% fish the evening we visited, because that day's catch was good. In rough weather when the Ballycotton catch is not so plentiful, fewer fish options is the consequence. Our waiter Alan was clearly very knowledgeable, being able to describe every food and drink in accessible language. We got the strong impression that this was not just a job or even a career to him, but rather a vocation, a passion, something that defined his life. It is wonderful to be introduced to a menu by someone with such a deep interest in and love of great food. It had the effect of tempting us to try far more gastronomic treats than we had planned. The mushy pea fritters starter was elevated by an exquisite sauce lapping at its toes. The fusion of tastes is unique in my dining experience. There is simply nothing to compare it with. The main course of baked hake with shredded suede on the side looked so wrong on paper but I am so grateful to the waiter that I gave it a go. The impossibly varied selection of seasoning and sauces sitting in tiny mounds on the plate around the hake allowed me to taste a new flavour with every forkful. My allergies prevented me from ordering a dessert from the menu so Alan asked the kitchen to prepare something in three separate dishes that went together like a dream. The line posset combined as if by magic with the sea-salted milk sorbet and sesame snaps, the latter carrying a relatively bitter and slightly sharp taste to perfection, sublimely balancing the sweetness of the posset. Full dinner for two plus champagne (special occasion) plus serious wine and craft beer, plus desserts and coffees, all came to a price that is comparable to what we pay in a fairly average restaurant in Cork. How is it that Goldie can deliver this audacious quality at such an average price? It is thrilling that people of ordinary means can find such extraordinary food in this city. We knew that Cork's reputation as a gastronomy tourism destination had risen sharply in recent years, but we had no expectation of finding something as good as this. We will be back, with friends and family from home and abroad, to share this treasure. Thank you Goldie. You are wonderful.

We enjoyed our second visit to Goldie. Friendly and welcoming staff. Background music was a little loud. Shared the fried fish small plate which was lovely. Monkfish for main course beautifully presented- portion of fish a little on the small side but with side dishes we had plenty to eat. We will be back.

This place wants to be fancy but it only when it comes to price. Your menu is the table mat (like in a pub) . Staff spends 10min to explain the menu and then suggests to get chips with the meal because they are aware that their portions are tiny and that people will leave starving (Chips are - again- pub food) . We spent 120euro for a bottle of wine 2 starters, 2mains and 1side. We decided to get the desserts elsewhere. The food is nice but there are many other places with equally good food, better ambiance and properly sized portions!!

An absolutely incredible array of fresh beautiful fish dishes. Myself and friends chose an assortment of dishes to share and were silenced by the flavours. We need to vote with our feet and endorse what we value. Please visit, enjoy and support a great team doing great work.

I want to keep GOLDIE a secret so I can have it all to myself. When word gets out it will become unaccessible to the rest of us. The menu is already on the table when you are seated. A new menu is produced every day. It was mostly fish but I also saw chicken options and maybe duck, it all depends on that day's catch. Everything is locally sourced and seasonal vegetables with sustainability always in mind. Our waitress Eva and I can't remember the other girls name was clearly very knowledgeable, being able to describe every food and drink in detail and a captivating quirkiness to her personality. It is a fresh change to be described a menu by someone with such a deep interest knowledge and love of great food. There was a mix up with my booking and Eva couldn't have handled it better. All my fault !!! I knew before I got there it was going to be amazing . It's not often that a restaurant bill comes in significantly under what I am expecting it to be . We left a well deserved tip. Will definitely be back - a lot I just hope I can get a booking this place is going to explode.

I'm usually not a big fish fan but my fiancee convinced me to go to Goldie's 6 weeks ago and the service and food was impeccable. We decided to go back again for a treat in the run up to Christmas and it was perfect again. Different dishes but the same high standard. Excellent staff member with the glasses servicing us again. Restaurants like Goldies and the glass curtain need to be higher up this list because of their quality and service.

We dined in Goldie twice in September and we were so impressed with it. it is small and intimate with a very unique vibe. a young, dynamic team headed by Head Chef and Proprietor Aishling give the place a nice busy feel. The food which is all freshly cooked in front of you was amazing, a lot of seafood, would describe it as “tapas style”. the service was top class and very personal. would highly recommend it.

We enjoyed a lovely welcome from Kelly and a great introduction from Allen with everything that we needed to know. The food was perfect, the ingredients were made up of fresh local produce with a chance for us to experience new flavours. The small plates before starters were a nice touch to settle into the lively upbeat atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the view of the kitchen which showed a tight knit team working seamlessly and respectfully together during a busy evening shift. I would recommend anyone to try Goldie, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, great food and staff proud of what they have to offer, we will definitely be back. Thank you for a great evening guys, looking forward to our next visit.
