Booked at short notice, early sitting. Our server, Polish/Irish and delightful. Knew the menu inside out and when we asked if we might have it 'tapas-style': not a problem! Food was outstanding, exciting, well-executed... just brilliant! Wine was a Sauv. Blanc, French and really zingy....All staff attentive and, as with all Market Lane satellites, really interested in their mission and fun with it. This was a truly amazing dining experience, full marks!More

Delightful evening at this beautiful seafood-oriented restaurant, starting with a warm welcome from our attentive waiter Allen and his enticing explanations of the menu. We stuck to the seafood for starters and mains and they were beautifully cooked with great flavour combinations. Dessert wasn’t as...exciting but still nice, although next time I may be tempted to get the oysters again as a dessert!More

This was our second visit to Goldies and just as enjoyable in every way. The food was amazing yet again, staff faultless, (thank you Alessio, Natalia and Evie) and again the ambience just lovely. The standard is impeccable with very fair cost in comparison. Somehow...Goldies manages to incorporate fine dining with an easy friendly atmosphere where all feel comfortable. You deserve all of your accolades and awards, well done all of you, we very much look forward to visiting again. Thank you for another wonderful night.More

If you want to be mesmerised, entertained, intrigued, and truly excited by food, without breaking the bank, book a table at Goldie, an unassuming little restaurant without airs or notions about itself. It is still difficult to write about it because the experience of eating...there was a little overwhelming, leaving me lost for the right words to explain how good it was. So instead here is a step by step. Your menu is already on the table when you are seated. A new menu is produced every day. It was 90% fish the evening we visited, because that day's catch was good. In rough weather when the Ballycotton catch is not so plentiful, fewer fish options is the consequence. Our waiter Alan was clearly very knowledgeable, being able to describe every food and drink in accessible language. We got the strong impression that this was not just a job or even a career to him, but rather a vocation, a passion, something that defined his life. It is wonderful to be introduced to a menu by someone with such a deep interest in and love of great food. It had the effect of tempting us to try far more gastronomic treats than we had planned. The mushy pea fritters starter was elevated by an exquisite sauce lapping at its toes. The fusion of tastes is unique in my dining experience. There is simply nothing to compare it with. The main course of baked hake with shredded suede on the side looked so wrong on paper but I am so grateful to the waiter that I gave it a go. The impossibly varied selection of seasoning and sauces sitting in tiny mounds on the plate around the hake allowed me to taste a new flavour with every forkful. My allergies prevented me from ordering a dessert from the menu so Alan asked the kitchen to prepare something in three separate dishes that went together like a dream. The line posset combined as if by magic with the sea-salted milk sorbet and sesame snaps, the latter carrying a relatively bitter and slightly sharp taste to perfection, sublimely balancing the sweetness of the posset. Full dinner for two plus champagne (special occasion) plus serious wine and craft beer, plus desserts and coffees, all came to a price that is comparable to what we pay in a fairly average restaurant in Cork. How is it that Goldie can deliver this audacious quality at such an average price? It is thrilling that people of ordinary means can find such extraordinary food in this city. We knew that Cork's reputation as a gastronomy tourism destination had risen sharply in recent years, but we had no expectation of finding something as good as this. We will be back, with friends and family from home and abroad, to share this treasure. Thank you Goldie. You are wonderful.More

A bartender at The Shelbourne recommended this place saying they had just won a "Best Casual Restaurant" award. So we changed our plans, walked over, and were lucky enough to snag a table for two. There certainly was nothing casual about the food -- as...EVERYTHING we tried was amazing! We decided to only get one Main and lots of sides and small plates so we could try more dishes. Here they are: 1. Mushy Pea Fritter - crunchy goodness with an Indian Twist. 10/10 2. Masala Roast Cauliflower - crunchy, again with an Indian flair. 10/10 3. Frog Swede - can't describe how different this veggie is was. Get it. 10/10 4. Baby Potatoes - well everything can't be a perfect "10" -- so a 9. 5. Pan Fried Hake - tender, buttery, goodness 10/10 6. White Chocolate Sorbet - several layers to this, melts in your mouth. 10/10 Also, their beer is brewed locally from their sister restaurant Elbow Lane across the street so you know it's fresh. This was one of the best meals we had during our entire 2 week UK trip -- and amoung the best we've ever had anywhere. From the service, to the plating, to the taste of the food -- all spot on. I've never has a waiter spend 7 minutes explaining each and every dish on the menu -- but we loved it as alot of the food was new to us. Well deserved award Chef -- keep up the great work and THANK YOU!More

Wow. We enjoyed one of those rare meals where everything is delicious and even unexpected. Our server did a great job explaining the menu in detail and making great wine recommendations. The hake and ray were prepared perfectly, with wonderful sauce that let the flavors...of the fish shine through. The cauliflower side was unusual and wonderful. Service was great and unobtrusive. We cant overstate how great our experience at Goldie was!More

After a very long wait my wife and I finally got a booking last Saturday night. I will start by saying the food was fantastic but the portions were more suited to a lunch menu. Our server spent at least 7 minutes explaining the menu...before we had a chance to read it and ask any questions we might have. I noticed he spent similar times at the other tables. When ordering the sides, he suggested we only order one of each as he said they were very generous. Neither my wife or I would agree with his suggestion. We asked about bread. He said as they make everything in house they don't have the time to make it. Later we asked if crab is ever on the menu. His reply was, it takes to long to prepare for a Saturday night. Overall the food was great. Judging by the waiting time to book online price is not an issue. So i suggest a little more main course even if it increases the price would not hurt. Our overall experience left us wanting more from this "time poor" restaurant.More

Combine the best locally caught fish, your own micro-brewery, a profusion of cultural influences (but most notably South Asian), a menu which changes daily, with excellent staff and a vibrant location in the middle of Cork, and you have the miracle which is Goldie

Goldie became the Best Casual Irish Restaurant Winner on the night before our meal, and after dining here I understand why. My companion and I sampled all the small plates, accompanied by Goldie’s in house brews. (Try their stout!!). Each dish has a unique twist...on fish (except the fully vegetarian dish or the oyster plate, which were fabulous) and I would be challenged to pick a favorite as they were all delicious. Save room for the desserts, which were as beautifully plated as they were yummy to eat. Service is also exceptionally attentive, but in a friendly way, not in the least formal or stuffy.More

Went to Goldies last night for dinner. The food was exquisite and our waiter Alan was absolutely amazing. The way he describes the food makes you want to order everything on the menu! I don't think I have ever had a waiter who had such...extensive knowledge of the menu and genuine love for the food that he is serving. All in all an amazing experience. Wonderful little restaurant that has a unique gourmet seafood menu of small plates and entrees. They have 4 brews of their own which are brewed to the principles of the German Purity Law with no additives. My dinner was the small plate of oysters in...elderflower vinegar in chive oil, the cauliflower side, and the cured monk fish which was fantastic. My husband had Pan Fried Haddock. Yum. Cooked perfectly in a creamy sauce. The wine menu is excellent. Several selections from France. We finished our meal with Frangelico Coffee in lieu of dessert. But the dessert choices were good, but not for someone dairy-free like myself. Shout out to our terrific server, Alessio! Grazie!More

If seafood is your thing then Goldie is somewhere you need to go! Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and I personally appreciated the explanation of the menu. Our server Eve was fantastic from the second we sat down. We ordered from the Snacks, Small Plates...& Mains. My favourites were the fish nuggets from bites, the cod pastrami from small plates & the Ling from mains. We were too full to order dessert! I highly recommend a visit & we will be backMore

Saw this recommended on TV with Neven Maguire and it didn’t disappoint. It was just a great experience. Terrific service - friendly, knowledgeable and just making sure you’d everything you’d like. Food was fabulous- the onion bhaji; the fish finger; the potatoe salad - all...great little plates to get started with a beautiful Albariño. The monkfish with Dahl and the hake with that really good mashed potatoes and all finished with a shared line posset leave you just wanting to return.More
