We were in the area and looking for lunch for a large family group and rang on the off chance, the staff at The Elm Tree could not be more accommodating. We were assigned two large tables in their back restaurant area and brought colouring...activities for the kids. We enjoyed delicious Toasted Sandwiches and Chicken Wings with Fries. All very fresh, locally sourced, hot and scrumptious. The kids enjoyed their burgers and chicken goujons. Food was served promptly and staff were very jovial and really efficient in their service. A restaurant gem; we look forward to returning.More

I cannot speak highly enough about our recent experience in the Elm Tree. I wanted to bring my 85 year old mum out for a nice meal and telephoned ahead to make a reservation. When we arrived, we were seated straight away in this beautifully...decorated restaurant. The area we were in was near the door and the loos, had no steps but yet had atmosphere in spades. There were quite a number of elderly diners in that section , all enjoying the ambiance, top class food and wine. Our meal was truly top class but the highlight for me was the way old and young could enjoy the contemporary setting. The Elm Tree really caters for everyone from trendy twenty-somethings sipping cocktails to golden oldies with their rollaters. Such respect for all patrons. Well done to management and staff!More

One of the nicest meals we have had in a long time. The staff are excellent and the food is fantastic. Caters very well to children but with excellent food, wine and cocktail choices for adults. The only problem is trying to decide what to...choose from the menu!More

Very disappointed with all our meals. Bread board for starters and usually you get lovely rolls this time it was only sliced bread and 2 different types. My hake that I have got it other times before which is lovely this time it was meant...to be on a bed of champ was only on mashed potatoes and and a white sauce thrown over it. Our chicken curry wasn’t even a taste of curry. It’s not the same and your quality of food is not there anymore.More

We went for a meal on a Tuesday in January expecting a dull and depressing atmosphere. It was the opposite!!the food was great. I got the feather blade. The staff were very welcoming and not overbearing at all. The atmosphere was light and buzzy and...busy which is testament to the quality of the place. The buttermilk burger was lovely too. The mature D was very friendly and it looks like a place that the staff are proud of. Book in advance I'd say. Its v popularMore

I have been to the Elm Tree many times & have always enjoyed it so had no hesitation coming here for our 23rd wedding anniversary. We both ordered featherblade of beef. I noticed one of the waiting staff bringing 2 meals to a table across...from us only to be informed it was not their order. He left & brought the meals back to the kitchen again. A few minutes later he appeared at our table with our meals so obviosly went to the wrong table initially. I noticed as I started to eat that both the beef & potato were just above tepid and continued to get colder as I ate which resulted in me leaving half the meal untouched. My husband ate his but said it was not hot. I mentioned it to the Manager who said I should have mentioned it earlier but no serving staff came our way. I had 1 glass of wine & my husband had 2 coffees which I thought they would take off the bill but alas no we had to pay in full. Reminded me of a situation there a few years ago when I waited a full hour for a burger to be cooked & Elm Tree did nothing for me then either. A bit of customer compensation would have been appreciated.More

From an American perspective I would call it a restaurant with two bars, not a pub. Pubs are more casual. The table settings are much nicer than a pub.
