Came on a Sunday afternoon at the start of their lunch menu and we were seated straight away. The service is friendly and quick and I had the 2 course for €22 of calamari and the main attraction of the porchetta which was quite frankly amazing in taste and quantity. A proper Irish feed.

My husband and I absolutely agree this is the best meal we’ve had in a long time. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and although we arrived quite early we were seated straight away. We shared the Calamari and Prawn Pil Pil as our starters, for mains we ordered the pork belly and confit duck leg both of which were absolutely delicious and for dessert we had the creme brûlée. On top of a brilliant meal our waitress was fantastic (honestly some of the best service we’ve had). I will be recommending this place to everyone I know!

Stumbled across this place while looking for somewhere for brunch and what a delight! Great atmosphere and decor, the service from the second we entered was fantastic. The menu is full of unique dishes, the ‘huevos rancheros’ and ‘truly Irish’ were great choices and tasted delicious. Service was friendly and attentive and even got a courtesy check through the meal which was a nice touch! Little things like keeping water refilled and simply asking if contactless was ok to use before paying all made a difference. Can’t wait to come back on our next visit to cork!

We had breakfast in spitjack last week. Overall it was ok. I had eggs benedict, I got a tea spoon of hollandaise sauce on my poached eggs and when I asked for more I seen I had been charged a euro for some additional sauce on the final bill. My daughter had pancakes and she ate one and then said she didn’t want the second one as it wasn’t nice, I tasted it only to discover it was raw in the middle. I told the waitress when paying the bill and she said we should have said something. I explained my daughter was five so she wouldn’t really have known. Overall it was ok but I wouldn’t go back.

We visited Spit Jack last Sunday for a birthday celebration but were disappointed. One starter was cold and the rotisserie chicken was so salted it was almost unpalatable. We were charged a euro for mayonnaise despite the fact that we had declined a no of the condiments in the burger main course. It seemed pretty mean really. Just imagine the turnover that is being made on mayonnaise and ketchup. Overall a very average experience

I came here last night for a double celebration of a 25th birthday and first anniversary and had been given high recommendations so were really excited for our first meal out since February,to celebrate such occasions. Initial meet and greet was great, all staff were super friendly, creating a great ambiance. We were brought to a lovely table upstairs and had a great setting. From being a manager of a restaurant myself I was very pleasantly surprised from the get go and was looking forward to what was to come. There was a brilliant selection on the menu, and the waitress was very helpful when dealing with allergens. We jumped straight to mains which came out super quickly to our surprise and was unsure if our food could be ready so quickly. It took us a moment to realise that one of the mains dishes was not what we had ordered and awaited the waitress to check in on us to tell her that there was an error. We didn't mind at this point at all as I understand how easily it can be misinterpreted with the new guidelines of wearing visors and with two dishes having similar titles (these things happen). The waitress with little words swooped the dish away and we were soon confronted with the front of house manager who informed us that the dish would take 20 minutes to cook and asked if we would we rather just keep the dish we received. We really didn't mind the wait for the food we initially ordered, so chose to wait. After another short wait we received the correct dish which was nowhere near 20 minutes and felt it was a strategy used to encourage eating the incorrect food we were given. The once friendly staff had changed moods completely and barely spoke to us from that moment. The front of house manager who had brought us down the second dish didn't say two words, where an apology for the mix up would have been greatly appreciated as we felt very awkward and unwelcome with the sudden mood change of staff. This situation was not dealt with correctly and left us wanting to leave as quickly as possible following our food. We didn't have any intention of causing a fuss or making things difficult on the kitchen especially from being in the industry myself. My partner would have eaten the first dish received however it wasn't something that she would have enjoyed. It really ruined what was the beginning of a great experience. Left us feeling very disappointed on what was a special occasion. I was very shocked by how the situation was dealt with as without this ut would have been a 5/5 experience as the food was amazing but we cut our reservation short and left after the mains.

I just cannot understand why restaurants are miserable with a coffee and Spitjack's must have been one of the most miserable cappuccino's I have had in recent times. I will return, but not soon, as the lunch was excellent however, I enjoy my coffee afterwards. I ordered a cappuccino, my wife ordered tea. One could be forgiven for thinking there was a mix up. The coffee arrived in a teacup and was one third froth, the tea was provided with a cappuccino cup! Four mouthfuls and the coffee was gone. When a coffee has a mark up of about 600%, there is no need to be mean.

I visited the spit jack with my husband last Sunday and thought it was amazing. From the welcome, to the brunch, to the drinks and the staff.. I honestly could not fault it. Our table was on the upper floor and the staff were very competent and professional. In fact I loved it so much I said to my husband that we ought to go again today. From the minute we stepped in we were not attended to and our table was located on the ground floor which was very very noisy. It took ages for the waitress to take our order and my husband's starter arrived before his appertif drink. Then we were alerted to the fact that he had ordered an evening time cocktail. The very very slim young foreign waitress had never told us and we were at a loss to understand why this was brought to our attention after he had made the order. If we had known his drink would come after the starter he would have chosen something else. The meal was enjoyable but it was a shadow of last week's experience to be fair. Abit disappointing to say the least....we were surprised how things had gone downhill in a week! I doubt we will return next wknd;-)

Both my husband and I have been away from Cork for 6 months so today, having quarantined for 14 days, we ventured out for some food. I researched where we would eat on the web and found that The Spitjack looked absolutely great, had the type of food we had been craving, lovely atmosphere and surroundings and couldn't wait to get there. I'm sorry to give a negative review as I know that it is a difficult time for restaurants and that staff are doing their best to accommodate everyone but it just didn't work for us. The lady at the door, monitoring entry seemed overwhelmed. She was monitoring those coming in to the restaurant, asking if they had a reservation plus helping with takeaway and other duties. It would have worked better to have two people in this area. I ordered eggs benedict and my husband a steak medium rare. We waited a long time for our food and the waitress apologised. When it arrived, my poached eggs were hard and cool and my husband's steak was medium if not approaching well done. We were disappointed of course but very hungry and ate it. The deserts were not good. The Nutella brownie was rock hard, cold and like a piece of chocolate fudge. The Apple Crumble serving was tiny and nothing out of the ordinary. I had expected something new and exciting from the photos I had seen on the website but was very disappointed with the whole experience. I know it was busy but that shouldn't take from the customer experience and the staff seemed to be so overwhelmed that the service was slow and erratic. I'm sure, during 'normal' times, this restaurant is great but sadly, today, for us, it was not.

Ate here at around midday on a Saturday so relatively busy but got seated right away which was good. Staff were all very friendly and service was good. I ordered the Full Jack which is essentially a full Irish and was allowed to substitute tomato for extra mushrooms which was a plus. My friend ordered the vegetarian eggs Benedict. The food was tasty and it was clear that good quality ingredients were used which made it that much more unfortunate that the food just wasn't hot. Some of it was warm and others just cold, while my friend remarked it seemed like hers was taken from a fridge. The plates were not heated which seems like a pretty standard thing to do in any restaurant to ensure the food stays warm before the customer eats. Just a pity because the restaurant itself is quite nice and this unfortunately does let the whole experience down. Would be willing to try once more, maybe just a once off but a top tip would be to heat the plates. I cannot remember the last time I ate anywhere, for brunch or dinner and the plates were not heated to avoid this exact situation.

Lovely night. Always a good ambience. Food was excellent..loved the fried cheese and calamari starters. Desserts are big. We had the loveliest waitress Claudia, who was so patient , especially when we had only 10 minutes left to order the' early bird'...and the Early bird menu is great value and a wonderful meal.

We go for a meal every December for our son's birthday we decided on spitjacks as I had friends who had been and the feedback was all good. We were not disappointed the place it self is very welcoming and has a real cosy feel to it,the food was lovely and the staff were great,if I had to say one negative about my evening there it would be the portion sizes,if you like your food as I do and you are hungry going in,have 3 course's I had a main and a dessert and I walked out of the place still hungry....hope that does not put you off. One other thing if you are there for one of your children's birthday let them know when booking they make a bit of a fuss for the birthday girl/boy. Would I eat there again....DEFINETLY. Hope this has been of some help to you.

As the heading says I found this place outstanding. A group if 4 of us dined here on a busy sunday evening, we were ever so lucky to get a late booking. All of our group left suitably impressed, the duck and sea bass leaving impressions. Obviously their chicken is delicious, goes without saying, but for us it was the desserts. I cannot wait for their Limerick restaurant to open up so I can return for their banoffie pie.

We were lucky enough to be squeezed in here without a reservation on a busy Saturday night for dinner. We placed our order and within minutes the food had arrived to the table, I had the chicken caeser salad and my partner had the rotisserie chicken topped off with dessert. The cocktail menu was quite large and they were very tasty! No complaints will definitely be back again!

Ordered online from them for collection, I ordered a chicken sandwich, chicken croquettes and chicken wings. The order was made in good time, and I collected it in time. The hot chicken sandwich / roll was lovely, a little bit dry but that is because I asked for no mustard. However I had garlic dip from a starter and it helped with the sandwich. The chicken croquettes are lovely , I never had something like it before and I enjoyed it, my cousin got chicken wings and she enjoyed it all. I wish they had gravy dip.as an option on their website for ordering. Food price was very good for the taste, it definitely was quality food I will come back again.
