Back in Cork after a 3 year absence due to C19. Corn Store has always been one of my favorites but Michale and his team knock it out of the park. All the help was engaging especially Geneva (misspelled), the team who takes the reservations....They remembered me, called me by my name. Amazing. I had the prawns Pil Pil (Excellent), actually went back like 3 times just to have that. The Hake was excellent and my friend had a steak and said it was perfect. If you get the chance try the Corn Store out (I actually thought it was better than the Glass Curtain!).More

Good food at reasonable prices. Interior warm and cosy. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable Great location. Menu wasnt daunding and liked that fact that they restrict it to a number of courses. Would highly recommend this restaurant..

I have eaten here quite a few times and i have always enjoyed the food here. We were at a graduation dinner here in October and i couldn't have been more impressed with the place. While I would say the menu is one of the...best they have had, the service and the consistency is what blew me away. The graduation party had a set menu for €45 and it was so full of all sorts of options everyone was pleased with it. I had a Crab Brulee to start, it arrived in a lovely ramekin and was in fact a crab set custard, and it truly was moreish, i love shellfish, and crab wouldn't be my top choice but it was creamy, well balanced and really packed a shellfish punch. I would have liked to seen more brulee on it, it was slightly torched but a good solid char would offset the creaminess well. The parmesan crisp was exactly that, it came with oriental crackers and an asian salad which in self was nice but for me the chilli was overbearing and didn't lend itself too well to the crab of that preparation. But overall it was truly inspired and delightful For my main i had Hake with with mustard baby potatoes, parma ham, beetroot and beurre blanc. Quite a few of us had this and it was truly perfect, everything was well balanced, cooked exceptionally well, the beurre blanc was the perfect harmonizer for the dish. I coudln't fault it, i do not like rocket which is was dressed with but once that was moved aside i was very happy, i could have have taken a little more beetroot alright. The Hake itself was cooked perfectly. and while at the time i said id have eaten more hake, by the end of the meal I was glad of it as i wasn't over full it was just right. Ultimately as always it was top class eating with excellent service but what impressed me beyond anything else was the consistency of it all. There was at least 3 graduation parties and a full restaurant. We were a table of 12 and every dish came out executed to perfection. There is a seriously talented team there, clearly being driven by a head chef with standards and efficiency in the forefront of their service. Any restaurant can write a good menu, but execution is the key and the Cornstore have that nailed. The staff of course are equally as impressive, attentive and pleasant. One thing i did find odd was the choice of draught beer, you would expect a place rooted into the Cork skyline like the Cornstore would carry locally made products on draught like Heineken, Murphy's, Beamish, Coors etc, it is only made a stonesthrow away, the only thing that would have made my evening better would be a nice pint of Murphy'sMore

The waiter must be on commission . I have never felt so pressurised or rushed. Nice food though but ruined by over pushy service.

Dinner with friends was lovely and not too expensive. We were seated in an area with booth type seating which was comfortable. . Lots of choice- a la carte menu, fixed menu and also evening specials. Starter of sea bass was very tasty as was...the crab brulee. My duck dish was gorgeous- others opted for hake. Desserts also nice. Nice wine list and plenty gin options. We were able to stay for the evening and not rushed out. It is casual dining at a reasonable price. Would definitely go back.More

I had heard great things about the Cornstore, so when my family from Korea requested we go for a steak dinner to close out our wedding week, I happily chose the Cornstore. When I emailed for a reservation, I got a call back almost immediately...from a lovely lady named Clodagh. She was so accomodating and friendly, ensuring that we would be on the ground floor since my mother in law is in a wheelchair, I was already impressed with the restaurant's service. She even let us know that they had a nice T-Bone special on, which would be great for our special occasion. When we arrived, we were shown to our table by a tall gentleman who I assumed was the manager as he was dressed in a shirt and tie. Service was quite slow, but we assumed it was because they were busy despite several empty tables. We wanted to give our visiting family a great send-off, so went the whole hog ordering appetizers and drinks to start before excitedly ordering our steaks. The tuna carpaccio was lovely, the crab brulee was cold but tasty (not sure if it was meant to be warm or not but it was lovely regardless) and the bruschetta was ok. We ordered filet steaks and a T-bone special expecting great things. All but 1 steak arrived overcooked, and that one was undercooked. None of the orders had the correct sauce, the sides arrived undercooked (except for the broccolini which was yellowed and mushy). When you're paying upwards of 30-40 EUR per steak, we didn't think it was unreasonable to send all of them but one back to be cooked correctly (my husband decided he would just eat his as he was starving, despite it being very overcooked). The Manager apologised and honestly, we were a bit disappointed/hungry but we weren't too fussed as these things happen - we just wanted our steaks cooked right. When my husband went to eat his steak, we were shocked to see that it was butterflied and in 2 pieces. When we asked the manager what the deal was, he very matter-of-factly explained that the kitchen had been backed up and in order to serve it faster he cut the filet steak in half to rush cook it. I have never, EVER heard of any self-respecting chef BUTTERFLY a FILET steak to cook it faster. Needless to say, at this point I was embarrased (had said that Ireland had great steak, they were in for a treat etc etc) and annoyed - when the Manager asked how things were I explained that the while the steaks being incorrectly cooked is not a problem (again, these things happen) being served a butterflied, overcooked filet steak was not ok. I asked him would he be happy being served a filet steak this way and he just mumbled something about a discount. I told him it wasn't about the cost, we would really just rather have our steaks cooked properly so we could enjoy our dinner but he kept interrupting and repeating that he would take it off the bill. The steaks came back cooked semi-correctly, but the meat was tough and super bland - overall, ok but disappointing. At this point, the we were all were tired of waiting for stuff and a bit deflated so we asked for the bill. We raised an eyebrow when we saw that 10% had been taken off the bill but were charged a 15% service fee. I have not had such a bad experience at a restaurant in the whole of Ireland ever - the whole thing was sorely disappointing and the worst part is is that it ruined our intentions of giving our family a great sendoff with great food. I hope this is a one-off but I can't recommend anyone come here - for the prices, you'd be getting a WAY better dinner and service at the likes of Market or Elbow Lane.More

I had a meal here with my husband on a rainy Monday evening on our last night in Ireland after a week’s holiday from England. It was a good choice. The staff were very welcoming and showed us to a nice booth. The menu is...nothing out of the ordinary but everything was beautifully cooked and the service throughout was excellent. Drinks & food were brought at the right time with perfect timings between our starter and main course.More

We had a very nice meal here recently. Had to book an early sitting but it was still nice and busy. Sat upstairs which was lovely and bright, nice decor and good relaxed atmosphere. Downstairs a lot darker. Pork belly to start, sirloin, ribeye steak...and a burger for 10yr old, tiramisu to finish. All very tasty. Have to say that the service was particularly good, very attentive and helpful. Lovely spot for families, groups, couplesMore

Went for a dinner for my father in law’s birthday. My partner brought a cake and was told at the door was not allowed to be eaten but could be brought out to sing happy birthday. In all my years working in hospitality both in...the kitchen and FOH, I’ve never heard of this policy. Fine, we just asked for the cake to be put in fridge, and would take when leaving. The first waitress we had taking orders for the table was lovely. Food was brought but definitely not worth the price for what we got. Way overpriced. €18 for a small bowl pasta with no meat in it could not be justified. The main reason we were unhappy was one waitress kept asking us to leave, and asked us were we having dessert to which we said no as we were taking our cake home. This same waitress kept looking at her watch and complaining to another waitress they needed the table back, and seeing this made us feel rushed and unwelcome. At 6:45 we were asked to clear the table, despite being told when booking we had the table until 7:30. My inlaws were unable to enjoy the bottle of wine they purchased as we were hurried to clear out. Won’t be going back again because of this feeling of being rushed.More
