We were greeted at the door by management who directed us to the table, very pleasant and friendly. Food was lovely and tasty - it just came out in parts (we were are party of 4) 2 dishes would come out and then another 2...dishes about 5 minutes later. They forgot to give us our side orders. Food was very good when it arrived. We had about 6 waiters (which were lovely) - would have liked the same waiter for the whole meal. We decided to order cocktails and were waiting almost 30-40 minutes for - which was ok but when we asked a manager he give a very sarcastic comment saying "there's a 30 minute wait for cocktails". We were shocked with this comment. He didn't even apologizes for the delay. As were paying for our meal the barman apologised for the delay in cocktails and we accepted his apologies.More

The Cloister took and confirmed an online booking for three for last night. The website looked good as this the menu. However, when we turned up on a wet tuesday they were closed and seemingly closed for good. We went to a place across the...road called Yolo and it was excellent and great value and they took us without a booking even though they were almost full.More

As a party of 12 we were invited by our friends to dine with them over the weekend at the Cloister in Ennis. Some of the party had meat dishes while others had fish dishes and everyone gave 10/10 for the meal. The setting brings you back...in time and is truly relaxing. As for the staff they operate as a true professional team and could not be more pleasant. It will definitely be a regular stop for usMore

One of my favourite places to eat. The food, fresh, locally produced, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. They cater for any dietary restrictions and will go above and beyond to facilitate what you want. The staff are just lovely and cannot do enough for...you.in addition to the main restaurant they have a lovely burrito bar next door so there is something for everyone at the cloister. Totally professional and the emphasis is in quality food and superb customer service. Highly recommend a visit.More

I visited this restaurant on a Saturday night, it was early in the evening as we had a play to get to for 8pm so we arrived at 6.... the place was warm and welcoming... I had friends over from England and I hadn’t tried...the place myself so said why not.... The waitress came over and was lovely Ruth I think her name was she was telling us about the specials and asked us for our drinks order... first slightly annoying thing we order a lovely bottle of wine and it’s the only one left? So will have to change our choice or go on a different one after however she did tell us... just for a restaurant like this would expect them to have white wine in stock on a Saturday. Anyways some of us order starters and they looked and tasted amazing... I had the prawn tempura and it was delicious... Then nearly all of us order the special lamb shank and it was lovely well cooked, the meat fell off the bone...UNTIL a fairly long thin sharp piece of bone Stabbed me in the tongue while I was chewing I pulled it out and it was half the size of a tooth pick... I complained and was given a complimentary glass of wine fair enough! ..the lamb was served with mash and veg... 2nd slightly annoying thing... when ordering we were told we could have potato gratin instead of mash, later saw we were all charged extra for x4 gratin on the bill? If we had known that we would have ordered them separately and shared 2 maybe... The guys ordered steaks and they were cooked perfectly... the food was lovely won’t fault that...More

Driving by on the main highway between Limerick and Galway, I popped in for a lunch and found a decent meal at the bar (not in the evening restaurant space). The soup was flavorful, and the prawn-avocado salad was great and bad—great in that the...avocado was plentiful in a delicious sauce with some pea grass sprinkled in; bad, in that there were few greens and the prawns were low quality and barely thawed. Better than fast food, but just OK if planning a foodie itinerary.More

Under new management this long standing Ennis restaurant is still a good bet. There is a good lunch time menu with plenty choice. I loved the wrap. Staff are friendly and service is speedy enough for a quick work lunch.

Walked over to The Cloister in Ennis and were seated right away. We ordered the Roasted Lamb special with a few side dishes and a Guiness. Since we like sharing our meals and drinks we ordered only one of each. We were served our main...dish split into two plates, beautiful presentation, that tasted fabulously, as did the side dishes and, of course, the Guiness. The staff were amazingly efficient and friendly (one helped us earlier when we happened to stop near The Cloister requesting directions to our hotel!). We loved this restaurant and are sorry we are in town for only one night, as a return visit would be awesome. We recommend The Cloister whole heartedly. You will not be sorry.More
