We dropped in on spec as it was lunchtime. I have to admit that we were unsure what to expect, but we got the kind of nice surprise that encourages you to collect all the information you can about the place, with an eye on your next visit.

We had dinner here one evening and the food was fabulous. A good selection from which to choose and well prepared. The dining room was quiet that evening and we had drinks in the bar first and coffee and whisky after. Extensive whisky selection and we were guided towards what would suit our tastes. Our dogs were welcome in the... More

We had a party of 12 for dinner at Killiecrankie Hotel, mostly family, and had a good meal with attentive service. Food was good with a reasonable choice of dishes, and the wine list had a couple of interesting surprises. Reliable and reasonable.

My wife and I have stayed a few times here over the years, the last time being in 2010. On this trip we found the accommodation and welcome as good as ever. Good parking in the grounds with magnificent gardens in which to sit or walk around. In the house, we'll run by Henrietta Ferguson, every need is catered for... More

We went for an evening meal in the bar/conservatory at this delightful village hotel which we thoroughly enjoyed. The relaxed family atmosphere enhanced the great food, and the surrounding grounds were a joy too.

This is not a large restaurant so reservations are required. The 3 main dining rooms were great. We were in the window room on the left when entering. The service was good and everyone enjoyed the soup and entre. The gardens were also very pretty and worth the stroll (not large). Cute dog at reception to welcome you.

This hotel was near our accommodation so we turned up without booking. We were greeted at the door and offered a meal in the bar as the restaurant was full. Our waiters were 2 very handsome polite young gentlemen, our food was delicious the best venison I have ever eaten. The bar area was quite quiet and felt a bit... More

A great place for dinner, wonderful menu and beautifully presented food. The service was outstanding and you were made to feel very welcome by the staff team. We ate in the conservatory and enjoyed lovely views of the garden while we dined. A nice touch was the buffet table for the cheese course. We really enjoyed the food and wine.

we had a family meal here in April. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the menu choices were adequate. We did find however that the portions were a little on the mean side. I ordered the venison and could have eaten twice the meat they put on my plate! Must be a greedy guts. It was though, cooked... More

Thank you so much for reviewing your recent visit to us - I remember your family well and it was lovely to see the children enjoying the garden. I am so sorry you considered your portion of venison small - I have to admit portions are something we often get comments on but for the opposite reason ...'I loved it... More

The Killiecrankie Hotel is a friendly family-run hotel 3 miles from Pitlochry, in Highland Perthshire. The location is stunning: the hotel overlooks the Pass of Killiecrankie, a deep, tree-lined river gorge formed by the River Garry cutting its way through the surrounding granite hills. Credentials are plentiful, with three Red Stars & two Rosettes from the AA, Scottish Hotel of the Year from the Good Hotel Guide 2011 and an entry in the Good Food Guide. A daily changing menu provides eg. a salad of smoked Rannoch duck breast with walnuts and orange dressing, then perhaps a delicious whole quail, roasted, boned and stuffed with chicken and red onion mousse. Round things off with the raspberry and frangipane flan with ice cream and a mixed berry compote. A less formal arrangement is also available in The Bar Conservatory
