A small but excellent restaurant by the River Ness. This was by far some of the best fish and seafood experiences I have ever had and I strongly recommend trying it. They have just a few tables and booking is probably needed, and worth it!!

Despite the slow service on that day (it was quite busy), everything we had was superb. we tried 4 different fishes and each one had something to remember, of course the final touch was the pavlova which was one of the best i tried.

this was our last meal in Scotland following a short break, Comfortably the best of a very good selection. I had scallops to start and crab salad for pudding. Waste of time having a sweet in this sort of place with so much good seafood....More

Oh dear. Once again, we can only apologise. Mussels sold out around 2030hrs and you tried to order around 2045hrs this evening. Oysters were available, as was EVERYTHING else on our menu, including an extra dish on our "Daily Catch" board. It is most unfortunate...More

We had the most lovely meal here last night. I wanted the halibut but asked about the seafood bisque that it was served with because I have an allergy to crab and there was crab in it, so the chef made a special sauce for...More

For an authentic taste of Scotlands islands and Highlands look no further than River House, a beautiful restaurant on the banks of the River Ness overlooking the Grieg Street bridge to the Free North Church. The restaurants spectacular views are complemented by the casual sophistication of the dining room, a comfortable and unpretentious space with timeless design and a warm, cosy atmosphere which invites you to relax and really enjoy your dinner. Dedicated to sourcing the best possible ingredients from the surrounding areas, the River House kitchen cooks each dish to order in the open plan kitchen, using fresh, seasonal produce prepared in such a way that individual flavours shine through. Though mainly Scottish in heritage the River Houses recipes also take inspiration from international cuisine with, in particular, a nod to French cookery woven in to many of the creative, modern dishes. Wines are carefully selected to complement the River House menu, providing a good, but not overwhelming, choice of labels.
