My friend and I had a wonderful meal. We were disappointed that macaroni choice was not available and chose the battered haddock instead. We were so pleased we did as it was simply delicious! Great value for money and it's a lovely restaurant. Hadn't been before but will definitely be returning.

We picked this restaurant to try some Scottish style food. My wife had the venison which is basically seared, which is the way it should be. I had the special which was a bouillabaisse which was delicious. Great food and wonderful staff made for a nice evening.

Saturday Lunchtime sojourn into the Merchant City, looking for a new place to try. The "City Merchant" was a promising venue. It was pretty quite for a Saturday, and other restaurants also looked equally empty, as well, when we were walking around . We were attended to immediately and had Soft drinks ordered. We then ordered off the Lunch Menu,... More

Came here for my partner's birthday. Lovely menu, great food, delicious desserts. Very friendly staff and comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. It was good not to be rushed but the time lapse between ordering, serving and courses was a little longer than we would have liked. Main disappointment was regarding drinks - firstly, my partner asked for a glass of wine but... More

Friend and I really enjoyed our lunch. The restaurant is quirky, with friendly, efficient staff, who gave us plenty of time to chat and choose our food. The Scottish menu features many fish dishes, but my friend had lamb and loved it. The dishes du jour were explained, and the food was delicious. After soup and a main course. it... More

We were in Glasgow for the day touring the city. I Googled places to eat that served haggis and this place came up in the search. We told the waitress we were from out of town....and country (Canada), and had never tried haggis. She was excited to explain it to us and we had a great conversation with her. She... More

Food was delicious but my main course portion was a bit on the small side, even for a pre-theatre. I had smoked haddock in batter and it was absolutely wonderful. It's just that I could have done with a bit more than the three small goujons I was served. The mussels I had as a starter were meaty and tasty.

We had American friends visiting, and wanted somewhere that showcased good Scottish produce, cooked well, and that was family friendly, in the Merchant City area. Not only did City Merchant tick all these boxes, but they were friendly and helpful, from the moment we made our reservation (by phone), to when we left, satisfied and happy. Our table included 3... Great selection of fish and seafood at reasonable prices; food came quickly and we were very well served by Jason. One of the best meals I have had recently.
