Although I live fairly near the House for an Art Lover, I had never visited before, but am so glad I decided to. I spent quite some time taking in the Rennie Mackintosh exhibition, then decided to have lunch in the cafe overlooking the wonderful garden. I ordered the Italian platter with cured meats, cheese and olives, which was excellent,... More

The Art Lover's Cafe in House for an Art Lover offers an excellent two or three course menu at a very reasonable price. The service can be a little slow at times, but I think that's acceptable for the quality of fresh food which is prepared. The staff are really good, they are very professional, efficient and friendly. The decor... More

My wife and I recently attended a birth party attended by approx. 40 guests and he celebrations were made all the more memorable by the ambience of the premises, the excellent cuisine and the attentiveness of the staff.

Had a very disappointing lunch last August but further visits since then have been great. Food and service were both very good, great value for money and the usual 'buzzy' atmosphere. Would highly recommend a visit.

Have visited the museum but not the cafe, friend had been a few time so came recommended. I went with my family at lunch, asked which soup was the special and was told parsnip so i ordered that. I then checked which main meals could be made vegan for me as they had no regular options available. They said the feta could be taken out the salad so I took that. Opon arriving with my family's starters... More

Ate here today and both of us had the plaice. While the new lunch menu looks good, the portion sizes are small. Both of us complained about the size only to be told that it's lunch! I thought it was a starter portion! Having said that, service was good.

We visited the house and stayed for lunch. Nicely decorated, modern restaurant. Excellent attentive staff. Good choices on menu. Two course lunch £12.95 or three courses £15.95 represented good value for what we had. Plenty of choices. Really tasty food - we had the fish cake starter, chicken with haggis and rhubarb sweet. With a glass of wine and three... More

Maybe I chose the wrong dishes from the a la carte menu but not impressed by the sea trout - swimming in an overwhelming parsley sauce with very few mussels and celeriac that I suppose was the little cubes floating about in the sauce. It was awful. I ordered rhubarb tart and was disappointed that case was hard and difficult... More
