This is a great place, recommended by a friend of our son who hails from St Andrews. To call it a Fish & Chip shop would be doing it a disservice. Scallops to start were excellent, as were oysters and grilled halloumi. Their battered fish...More

The very best fish and chips I had in Scotland - and I ate them almost every day for 9 days! Whether you can hook a table inside or you wait in line for 'Take Away' you will not be disappointed! The freshest fish with...More

We come to St Andrews several times a year and always visit Tailend. The food is great but as Coeliac’s, the Gluten Free batter has never ever been available, not ever. It should really be available upon request or else it should not be mentioned...More

What a wonderful meal in a great restaurant. Had the best F&C ever. A large batter dipped white fish was delicious. At first it looked too big to finish but it disappeared quickly. A filling light meal. The service was great in a very pleasant...More

Great fish (recommend the pesto on it), great mushy peas, and great chips which are unlimited. This is convenient and very close to St. Andrews University (popular with students there) and St. Andrews Castle. The food was great, and the service was also excellent.

The batter on the haddock was tremendous. Mushy peas and chips were good too. The green salad was even better than expected. Hot smoked salmon salad was scrumptious. Informal surroundings and very popular.

This is a busy restaurant, we were welcomed and taken to our table. It's cafe style as you'd expect from a fish and chip cafe. We'd reserved a table for 10 however 2 people didn't manage to attend which was no problem. Service was good...More

The three of us all went for the traditional haddock and chips (for me with mushy peas). A delight! The fish was beautifully cooked and the batter was heavenly! Fab that this place has a license so we were able to wash it down with...More

Really nice place to visit. Great menu and service. Only reason for not giving 5 stars was the batter on one of ours wasn't good. Had to be sent back, but was replaced with a smile! Go for the breaded option!

A visit to the Tailend is normally enjoyable thanks to the lively atmosphere that comes with its popularity. It is definitely worth booking a table to eat here as it's always busy. The food, however, is just average in my opinion and I've had far...More

They have stopped the refillable baskets! When I dined in a couple of weeks ago I ordered a fish supper, was given a handful of chips! My friends ordered half fish and received 3 x more chips! If you’re planning a trip I... More

We are a family run fish bar and restaurant. We have been in the fish business for four generations and we hope to keep the family tradition going. All our fish is locally sourced and is as fresh as can be. We have our own fish house based in Arbroath, Where we are particularly famous for our Smokies! (Haddock cooked over a barrel, giving an intense smoked flavour) and our Humble Haddock is also a customer Favorite! We are passionate about seafood and it comes across in all our dishes from the Humble Haddock to our Seared Tuna steak! We carry a bespoke range of wines and whiskys suited to compliment your dish, just ask our serving staff for advice.
