Had lunch here recently. Service was excellent and the meal was well presented and most enjoyable. Excellent value for money - especially at lunchtime. Would definitely recommend Iris.

Visited with two friends for lunch. There is a fixed price lunch menu - two courses for £15.95. But I chose from the a la carte menu which worked out slightly more expensive. I had the butternut, pecan, and ricotta parcel starter and the gingered...More

The service was friendly and helpful but the table was sticky despite us being an early evening booking The starters were very poor. The pig cheeks sat on a watery base of root veg and lentils. The dish lacked seasoning. I still cant work out...More

We went here for a family meal on the recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed. The food was cooked to perfection & the menu was varied so everyone was happy! Very friendly service at a reasonable price. We would definitely return.

The notice on the door said 'Chef Required', which was a bit concerning, as we had enjoyed a great meal here, about 3 months ago. We needn't have worried. Once again the menu was varied and the food delicious. The staff were as friendly as...More

My friend and I were looking for a restaurant that hadn't been taken over by a London chain. As we walked past, we saw (& liked) the menu. It was quiet (only 6pm) but we went in anyway! So glad we did. The food was...More

We visited on Saturday night. Edinburgh was packed due to the rugby but the restaurant although busy had a very relaxed vibe. The ambience was great. The food even better. All of us chose different items and all were really good. I had the goats...More

Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town,

Description
Tucked away on Thistle Street, Iris has been a welcome addition to the Edinburgh restaurant scene. This chic little bistro - with its designer wallpaper, banquette seating and rough stone walls – has an intimate, cosmopolitan vibe, and is popular with a discreet and sophisticated creative crowd. The modern European menu is guaranteed to impress, we love the roast duck breast with fresh raspberries and Drambuie; chicken supreme stuffed with langoustines served with a garlic and herb buerre blanc; and the roasted quail with spicy potatoes served with an orange and rocket salad. Ideal for stylish working lunches, and informal evening meals, Iris also has an extensive wine list with up to 17 bottles for under £20.
