Called in for a quick pint, unfortunately cask ales were off at the time but still plenty of choice. Busy, but quick service.

What a shame. After a long days travel and walking we chose to eat here "albeit later than we usually do" The Bartender was very polite and professional. Unfortunately we where drawn in with a sign outside saying that last meal orders 9pm. When asking...the bar man, how to order food he mentioned through the QR code or over the bar. We ordered drinks and went back to the table which we had already decided outside before entering. Ordering through the QR code took us a while due to not having the app installed and logging on to their own WiFi which was painfully SLOW downloading 8mb. The app wouldn't allow us to order so after asking, was told at 8.34pm that they weren't taking food orders. I explained about the sign outside but was refused. (from the barman through a young lady staff member) Can't really fault the barman as he was just the messenger but quite disappointed that nothing else was offered. The sign needs updating or removed if 9pm isn't the cut off time or at least be clearer if people are going to be inconvenienced. The sign still hadn't been removed when leaving the premises as per photo.More

Thank you for visiting we are sorry our kitchen wasn't open when you came in. We do try to update our signage when we have staff shortages but if in doubt always go with what the staff member says.

I have actually eaten here on a couple of previous visits, despite being in tourist central it always served hearty and tasty scottish fare. Sadly this time we were served bland tasteless haggis, with watery mash and neeps. Its now a total tourist trap avoid.

Thanks for visiting and leaving a review - we are sorry we didn't get everything spot on this time around! Our haggis has been from a trusted supplier for over seven years now and we normally get rave reviews!

Totally ignorant bar staff. It’s a good job it’s a tourist area. Seem to go out of they’re way to be unhelpful. Good bar staff are hard to find, you won’t find them here.

I was lucky enough to get a table outside here yesterday for lunch with friends. I had the Nicholson Burger and my friends chose other burgers. We all really enjoyed our lunch and would recommend eating here. Attentive, friendly staff.

Nice pub with a good range of food to keep a family with picky teenagers happy and meals that filled us all up. Outstanding table service especially when we mentioned one of us had a severe allergy. A really great response, which was nice to...see. The only reason it wasn't 5 blobs was that there wasn't a great deal of choice for handpump beers, but then I again I am just a grumpy old man, and I did end up liking the Stewarts 80/- so call it a 4 and half blobs. Try the haggis, neeps and tatty stack for starters. Lush!More

Loads of character here. Proper old pub. Ordered lentil sheperds pie and haggis neeps and tatties. Lentil pie good, and so was the haggis except it was like a starter in size! I asked the staff if I had been given a starter by mistake...and they said no. I was about to give a 3 star rating when the staff member came over with some extra haggis and neeps. Kudos 😁More

What a disappointment. Despite advertising a great menu with an additional children’s menu, this was simply not the case. A very limited menu with the suggestion that children could simply order a starter. Steer clear.

Thank you for visiting and leaving a review - we are sorry about our limited menu just now; hopefully the global supply chains correct themselves soon and we can start building it back up again!
