I tried the Haggis for the 1st time at Whiski, shared the "haggis neeps & tatties" with my husband & we both liked it. we went there twice during our visit to Edinburgh, once for lunch & another for dinner to enjoy the live music.. their food is very good, the fish & chips, the garlic bread with cheese ,... My boyfriend and I went to Whiski over the weekend following seeing reviews of it on Trip Advisor and we were quite frankly baffled as to how anyone likes this place. When we arrived we were shown to a table by a grumpy waitress who was clearly annoyed to be working Good Friday. When we went to order the waitress... More

We had a great experience at Whiski this past week in Edinburgh. It was our last meal of the vacation and did not disappoint! They were quite busy when we arrived but the staff kept us in close mind and we had a table within 20 minutes - despite a packed dining area. We enjoyed the Fish and Chips, Scottish... More

Was in the other week with my partner for a rare night out and was a really good atmosphere. The live band were great and the mojitos were even better. I'm not a huge whisky fan but my partner is and he was in heaven with the selection and the staff were able to chat to him about them as... More

Had to have haggis while visiting Edinburgh. Very enjoyable, tasty & not at all heavy or stodgy. The beers recommended by the server were excellent. The server - from New Zealand - was absolutely charming with a beautiful smile & she really added to the experience

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
