Food good but there were 6 of us dining and we were given a table for 4! With all the dishes and accompaniments typical of this type of restaurant, there was no room on the table and we had to put our wine and water...More

I have been here a handful of times. The food is good, even in a touristy part of town. They have shisha outdoors with quite a different vibe from a normal shisha cafe.

Salty, burnt and expensive. Extremely disappointed. Was expecting a lot more due to all these good reviews. Our starters were great but the rest as follows was inedible. We will not be back.

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

I went there while on a gluten free diet and found plenty of options. Just be careful of the rice as I think it has vermicelli or some other kind of noodle in it.

Description
Set in the heart of Edinburgh is Hanam's Kurdish and Middle Eastern Restaurant and if you think that's a mouthful, wait until you see what on offer! Voted one of Britain's Top 5 Middle Eastern Restaurants by the Telegraph, owner Ahmed ensures the personal touch, by being there seven days a week to offer advice and banter. The menu offers starters such as falafel and baba ghanoush, main courses that include Kurdish pizzas, vegetarian casseroles and halal meat dishes, such as Kurdish-style lamb biryani. There are also a selection of shish kebabs and desserts. Three courses from this banquet-like menu will cost an average of just £20 per person. And, if you're so inclined, you can even smoke a traditional hookah after your meal.
