It is doubtless the best place for burgers you can find in Edinburgh. Also the chips and the onion rings are amazing. In addition they have the black isle as beer. Top.

This bar is a little gem, don't be put off its location as it's on a dimly lit side street just off George Street behind shops. Very pleasant and helpful staff the special venison burger with haggis was excellent washed down with a nice pint of local ale all at a reasonable price. Will definitely revisit again.

Tasty burger and good size sides orders: both cajun fries and onion rings. The service was very good.

I go here most times I'm in Edinburgh and the burgers here never disappoint. The good quality selection of beers and wines to accompany make this a must visit. The comfy sofas are also great if you just want to sit with a beer and read a book.

We visited on a Saturday and whilst it was busy we were seated straight away. Burgers were fantastic. I had a Cajun chicken burger, which was huge - a whole chicken breast and with a spicy kick. My partner had a double been burger which was generous, and he assures me delicious! For pudding I had a generous portion of... More

Booked a table for 4 on a Friday night for a catch up with friends over some good food during a stay in Edinburgh. Unfortunately for us we forgot that Scotland were playing England that night, so the pub was very busy, which made it difficult to have a proper conversation. Fortunately, however, the food was very tasty so we... More

During a day trip to Edinburgh, partly for the Christmas markets, we wanted a pub in which we could watch an England v Australia rugby game. The Cambridge Bar was one of those we researched. From the moment we entered the four of us felt right at home. ALL the staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. We had a discussion... More

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
