A fantastic food experience at a decent price. Definitely recommended. We enjoyed a 3 course meal and the food really delivered.

Husband and I visited Passorn last night as he got vouchers for his recent birthday. We have been to this restaurant before so we were really looking forward to it. Our table was booked for 7 pm and we arrived 10 mins early. Our whole meal was over within 30 mins. Far far too quick with no time interval between... More

The flavors and presentation of the food were amazing! The only downside was the wine, which was a bit naff.... However, it is easily one of the best Thai restaurants in Edinburgh.

Lovely food, interesting menu. Different from the average Thai place. Well looked after by staff. Would definitely go again.

We visited here for something different to our usual haunts. It was a very pleasant experience. We were greeted warmly & efficiently and shown to our table. The menu was more than adequate. I chose chicken soup with lemon grass and fillet of sea bass. Neither dish was what I expected but both were delicious. I finished with a black... More

Fantastic food & good service. Intimate restaurant with food full of flavour. Scallops special were delicious & chicken red Thai curry was also tasty. Returned to Hanover Street restaurant but preferred the original at Brougham place.

The food was excellent, and the staff was helpful and quick. We had a little bit of trouble with ordering, but I think they had a new waitress. In general they were were nice and polite. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

I am very picky regarding Thai restaurants. Founds this one by chance, originally looking for another place. Oh dear, the Tom Kha soup (my all times favourite) was so perfect that I wanted to cry of happiness. Had some curries and beef with basil afterwards - very tasty, great portions, beautiful plates! Definitely worth a try if you fancy classy... More

Immediately, Passorn's interior signifies its intent of fusing crisp, dark style with old fashioned charm. This certainly comes through in the little niceties observed by their service: pulling out chairs, folding napkins, taking one's coat, the tea light candle placed underneath curry. And yet, any pretensions to elevated dining are not substantiated by especially angelic food. The spring rolls were... More

There was some steam coming from his ears, not my fault for a change. The set lunch menu of 2 courses had a fair amount of choice, my curry was yum. I can't spell the starter but it came with a peanut sauce.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
