This place used to be good! We went back for a family meal out. Food portions were very small and it was really cold. Not what it used to be. Disappointing.

Recently attended first coast with a large group (18) on a Saturday night and the restaurant handled it with ease. Considering the size of the kitchen all the food was brought out at the same time and the quality was outstanding. Lovely staff members also....More

Booked last minute via 5pm on a January Lunch Deal - two courses £12! Arrived sharp and got the bonus of a seat by the welcoming open fire. Very helpful staff too. Shared Thai Fish Cakes and Aubergine Zaalouk. Fish cakes were fairly small but...More

We have been going here, off and on, ever since it opened and it has never failed us. The early evening menu in particular is very well priced and when combined with great staff and their flexibility in adjusting the menu choice to suit vegetarian...More

We came here for a family lunch & had a fabulous meal. Sometimes Christmas lunches can leave a lot to be desired but this was excellent - great food at a good price washed down by a decent Chenin Blanc. Service was friendly & we...More

My 2nd visit here. Very impressed with the food yesterday as was the rest of the party. Had the Rendang and the Sri Lanka Cod Curry. Both well spiced. Delicious. Are quite spicy. But that’s how I like it. And Sri Lanaka curries can be...More

Description
Opening Hours:-Lunch Monday - Friday 12pm-2pm, Saturday 12pm - 4pm. Dinner Monday - Saturday 5pm-10.30pm. West Edinburgh wasn't a dining hotspot, but charming, inviting, delicious First Coast is one of the establishments that have been changing that. A comfy toddle from Haymarket station, First Coast is quite an intimate, relaxed shop front restaurant done out the blues and greys of the sea, with rough hewn centre wall and super smart detailing. The frequently-changing modern Scottish menu lists meat and fowl as well as fish. Starters include very tender marinated squid, soy and sesame salad, mains include spicy grilled chicken breast with homemade sweet chilli sauce and coconut rice, and sweets include deep fried jam sandwich with vanilla ice cream- seriously. Short, thoughtful wine list, good vegetarian choices and warm service.
