Best place in Edinburgh to enjoy freshly prepared Greek food at its best outside Greece. Very reasonable prices. Always busy, despite this fast and efficient service. Highly recommended even for a little coffee accompanied with a Greek delicacy.

It was Saturday; we hadn't booked.. But the staff welcomed us warmly - and squeezed us in. We both selected the specials of the day - Beef Lasagne and Moussaka - and were really pleased at how tasty both dishes were. So pleased that we just had to have baklava and coffee to show our appreciation. Obviously freshly made, the... More

This is a Greek restaurant even if it's name doesn't give that away. Simple decor and good simple food. Friendly efficient staff. Very reasonable prices.

It is one of the best kept secrets in Edinburgh. Dimitris cooking is superb: decent Greek home cooking. Try the pitta pitta the yaourtlou the omelet ; all very honest well balanced non pretentious dishes. Friendly staff welcoming. One will come again and again!

Greek tastes can be found there but you must be very lucky to find a seat inside on winter time as shop is very small. Anyway we enjoyed our cakes outside having covered with a blanket. It was delicious and the service also was very good.

We had lunch here today and the weather was so nice that we sat outside even though it is only February. The owner was very friendly and helpful, the food amazing, generous portions of freshly prepared ingredients and very reasonable prices. Of all the Greek restaurants in Edinburgh this one is the best. We will be back to taste everything... More

Food and coffee and the decor are great. But one small problem, THE TOILET! The toilet was so dusty and poor looking. It definitely needs doing up! It reminds me of toilets in third world countries restaurants!

Went there with a few colleagues for lunch. Excellent example of Greek traditional food. Try the meatballs with tomato and yogurt sauce; remarkable.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
