This is such a great find in Edinburgh. We had the seven course taster menu and I love every single minute. It was romantic and felt like such a special night for a really reasonable price!

Lived local until two years ago but was the first place we thought of good no when in town on our wedding anniversary. Food is always outstanding and if you go for the wine pairings they are fantastic

We went to Purslane for an evening reservation and having read great reviews online we were not disappointed. Fantastic food, presented well and the service to match.

This was our fourth visit to Purslane, the food is outstanding, we couldn't fault the tasting menu with wine. The service matched the quality of the food. We can't recommend it enough. This is the best food in Edinburgh, forget the attraction of a Michelin star go to Purslane, the food is the same quality as those with a star,... More

I recently went here for dinner for he first time. It was a Tuesday evening however the restaurant was still busy and had a good atmosphere. The waiter was extremely friendly and personable. The food was fantastic although small portions and I would definitely return. On the pricey side. Excellent for a special occasion.

Visiting our daughter in Edinburgh always provides us with an excuse to dine out. This time we went to Purslane and we were anything but disappointed. A small intimate venue helping you to relax upon entering, and then you're welcomed as if you're family - how good's that?. The food is wonderful. No point mentioning what the menu offers. We... I am a bit hesitant to say how much I am impressed with this restaurant for the food, staff and price as it will mean I will never get a table again! Firstly the staff are genuinely warm and friendly. The dining room is very intimate. ie small. Menu has a good, although maybe small selection for some. Wine's are... More

Wonderful food, beautifully presented in this below pavement intimate restaurant. Service was discreet but attentive, and the wine list for such a small restaurant was excellent. Very reasonably priced for fine dining. Would highly recommend, especially the banana dessert.

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
