Bert's is an old fashioned, working-man's pub of traditional standing. It looks like it's been there for 100 years. But don't let that fool you; it's a bar which was redesigned in the 1980s to look authentically old. They made a good fist of it,...More

All good, recently refurbished. Bright and airy, in stark contrast to what seems like a life-time ago.

Been here at least 4 times, in different times, different type of groups, and it was always five star experience. Tried several main courses, few starters and almost all deserts. The kitchen is way above from what you expect to get in a bar. Atmosphere...More

We were in Edinburgh for five days and ate here three times. Nice beer selection. They had a decent menu with some vegetarian choices. Close to city center.

We had a great dinner here, far beyond the ordinary pub grup. The beer selection of ales on tap is phenomenal. Not sure if they have wine, but do have good cider. Only caution is that it's hard to get a table at peak hours....More

I wrote an un complimentary review of Berts 12 months ago based on my experience of a pretty disgusting pie - but since then it's undergone a facelift and a complete overhaul of the menu. On a recent visit with a friend we enjoyed very...More

We had rented a flat across the street for our visit to Edinburgh, and we went here on a Sunday evening. I understand the place changed its focus a few months ago and it certainly is not a bar, but something far better. Not totally...More

West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in
industrial Britain had their most desirable
neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes.
Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest
citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind
grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel
crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and
sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along

Bert's Bar Edinburgh is famed for its real ales which all meet the high Cask Marque standard of approval - which means we pour the perfect pint every time! However it is not just all about the beer! We enjoy a great reputation for not only serving fantastic pub food to a mix of customers but also serving everyone with a smile... no matter how busy we are! We provide substantial Scottish pub food for unsubstantial prices.
