I loved this place! The auld hoose has a great menu and at a good value. I was there with family and service was fast and very friendly. Some of us had vegan options (delicious nachos, onion rings, sandwich) and the others got to not complain about it, getting an full breakfast, burger and hot dog (also restaurant has vegan... More

Good choice of vegan food. Relaxed atmosphere. Really good pub quiz although very difficult (or maybe that was just us...).

Hi Lucy, Thank you so much for your review. Yeah the quiz is quite taxing - loads of our customers are students or academics. Come back and see us again soon. Kind regards, Jonathan More

Came here after searching for decent vegetarian food. Food was delicious, there are plenty of vegetarian places to eat in Edinburgh but I found this to be the best. Bit of a walk from where we were staying but was well worth it. Was a quiz night so was a little busy, but the atmosphere was incredibly friendly and the... More

We stopped in here after hearing that they offer a lot of vegetarian/vegan options. We were not disappointed! The Auld Hoose have a huge range of tasty vegetarian meals! The portions here are HUGE! We ordered way too much food (the waitress did warn us) but it was all absolutely lovely and very fairly priced. The bar also had a... More

We visited the Auld Hoose at the weekend after looking it up on Tripadvisor. Though a fair distance from our hotel it was definitely worth it! I had macaroni and my boyfriend had the pulled pork hot dog. Portions were massive and it was extremely reasonable price wise! Staff were friendly also! Would definitely return!

Description
The Home Of Edinburgh's Largest Nachos! We serve quality pub food in nice big portions. Favourites include our famous nachos, burgers, hot dogs and burritos. Lots of our dishes are vegetarian and many are vegan. We are very passionate about beer. We serve Brewdog's Punk IPA and Brooklyn Lager permanently, and our guest ale comes from craft breweries such as Alechemy, Dark Star, Five Points, Fyne Ale, Magic Rock, Moor, Summer Wine and Tiny Rebel. Our jukebox is legendary in Edinburgh for having the best selection of metal, punk and goth music. Bands such as Alice In Chains, Black Flag, Danzig, Deftones, Kyuss, Mastodon, Nick Cave, Nitzer Ebb, Rage Against The Machine and Tiger Army make up the soundtrack to a stay in The Auld Hoose. Children are not permitted on the premises at any time, and we don't take reservations. Oh yeah, students get a 10% discount on all food purchases!

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
