Pleasant small café with vegetarian and vegan options. We had breakfast there which was fine but the lunch options and cakes looked more interesting!

Went for breakfast twice. Had the same thing twice: Bircher Muesli. Great!! Uses rhubarb instead of the usual apple. The first one was better than the second so it's clear the standard is dependant on how much the server can be bothered. Some people care more about presentation than others. It's trendy, you know the type of place but no... More

Lovely little cafe that was located close to the Leonardo hotel where we were staying. Lots of fresh and tasty food and cakes, as well as hot and tasty coffee. We stopped here for coffee and cake as well as grabbing some sandwich and wraps the next day to take out for a picnic (which were very scrummy). They also... More

Great breakfast, fresh and not too heavy. Free wi-fi is always nice for that long, relaxed morning feed.

Good for a healthy vegan lunch. Also good for a less healthy breakfast! Really enjoyed my bacon sandwich on homemade bread from Au Gourmand. Nice teas & drinks too.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
