We had an excellent meal in here on a busy Saturday night. The two waiting staff were very busy, but there was no delay and everything went smoothly, the staff were happy to spend time explaining the menu and giving us recommendations. We shared around 8 platters of tapas along with some really nice sherry and Spanish wine. The cheese... More

Dinner for 4 on a busy Saturday. This is a small restaurant that you should book. Food is excellent. Lots of iberico dishes, pork but not as you would expect. Had the best Calamari ive tasted with a lovely aoili. All dishes beautifully presented. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. Wine list is small but has all you would need.... More

My daughter and I were going through to Edinburgh to the King's Theatre after working all day in Glasgow and wanted dinner before our show so I Googled restaurants near the theatre and frankly picked this place at random. Booked 2 swats on line. And oh I'm so glad we picked it! I was the first customer in at 6pm... More

This is a small one-room tapas bar. It has the usual tapas, media and racions across a good range of different types of Spanish food so, it will suit you if you want to nibble or if you're really hungry. A limited wine list but it's got good quality at reasonable prices. Try the pig's cheeks with a glass of... More

My wife and I found this delightful, relaxed and authentic Spanish restaurant on our first night in Edinburgh. The host had a friendly, polite and welcoming manner that carried through the whole restaurant to create a calm and informal atmosphere. The dishes are mostly offered in a range of 3 portion sizes with a few special dishes only offered as... More

This is a great little restaurant in the Tollcross area of Edinburgh. Whenever we have visitors we take them to this restaurant because of the great food and excellent service. On most of our visits we ask the staff to recommend the tapas and I don't think they have got it wrong yet. The food always tastes fresh and the... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
