Tasty starters and mains. Healthy ingredients and cooking. Filling portion sizes. We doubled up on salt and chilli squid starter followed by tofu ho-fun noodles and beef ho-fun noodles. Fast service and super friendly staff. Great price. You have to try it. Braw.

Recommend the curry triangles and the egg noodles with red curry! They also have free water, so be aware if you plan on buying water.

This really is my favourite take away in Edinburgh. Such a wide range of options - you make up your own box of noodles however you like. Chicken wing starters are DELICIOUS.

Concept of picking your own noodles, meat, veg and sauce appealed to ours. Food was very tasty and rapidly served. Starters were probably the best bit.

I am currently typing eating some food delivered by Red Box. Absolutely in love with this! I'm not a fan of the restaurant itself as too cold during the winter and not too friendly, but it's great food!!!!

Reviewed here before but still a great idea. Quick easy and tasty all you want and expect from a noodle bar really. Definitely the best in Edinburgh in my opinion. Prices have gone up a little in recent times but still well worth it.

It is just like a sandwich bar, with noodles. The system is very simple, choose your noodle, ingredients and sauce. The portion is plenty, you can choose eat-in or take away. I recommend "crispy noodle".

Great value and great noodles! You can create your own noodle box and the results are simple but delicious, made to order. Not particularly charming inside but fine to grab a quick bite or to takeaway. I have been back here again and again, highly recommended especially for the price.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
