We were looking for lunch at The World's End but the wait was way too long, they recommended The Albanach. I had the meat pie and my wife had the fish and chips, both were excellent, we needed directions to a bus and the bar...More

We always come here especially on a sunny day. Grab a table outside, order a local beer, sit and people watch. We sat for hours drinking and eating and watching the world go round. We met a lovey youthful elderly man who told us many...More

We stopped in for sumptuous Steak Pie and luscious, crisply battered fish and chips. The floors of the quaint cafe gleamed in the afternoon light. The wait staff were very attentive and friendly.

Great wee bar well worth a visit not at the same extortionate prices of other Edinburgh bars. Really nice feel to the bar.

There is a really good atmosphere in this place, particularly in the bar area at the front. It's a bigger place than it looks from the outside as they have a longer bigger dining room at the back. The food was so disappointing, we had...More

Some of the best fish and chips that I have every had. Don't forget to try one of the cask conditioned ails while you are there, and grab a seat outside or in the window to just watch the people go by as you eat!

Had lunch here with my wife & two friends. The service comes with a smile, the food is extremely tasty and well presented and the bar/restaurant, also has a great selection of malt scotch whisky. Certainly worth a visit, for lunch or dinner !

Awesome selection of Whiskey with decent pricing. Great food as well, definitely recommend the large Haddock (fish & chips). Waiters super friendly. Absolutely recommend going here!

Thanks indeed for your awesome review. The fish & chips is our best seller... apart from whisky of course! Pauline

Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
