My husband and I chose this restaurant for my birthday meal on our mini break because I love Italian food, and it did not disappoint. It was not particularly busy, although we did eat early. The meal was delicious, we both opted for pasta dishes,...More

Exhausted after walking 8-miles on our first day in Edinburgh, my husband and I opted for dinner at our hotel (the G&V). We had low expectations, to be honest and were very pleasantly surprised by the exemplary and attentive service and the delicious food. Highly...More

Eight of us arrived at the restaurant at 7.45pm for dinner. The restaurant was not that busy, probably two thirds full. We were seated and waited for our waiter. About 20 mins later we had to chase someone down to order a drink. Drinks were...More

A lovely breakfast buffet with fruits, cereals, cheese, meats, smoked fish, yogurts, juice and also made to order hot dish - eggs benedict and another version with salmon. Big pot of coffee on your table.

I visit the Cucina restaurant at least once a year or so and normally rate it quite highly but my latest experience with my son for his belated birthday was truly exceptional. Roasted scallops with celeriac puree and saffron dressing, accompanied by the sommelier's choice...More

We dined here for a friends special birthday and started with cocktails in the bar. They were delicious! We moved up the restaurant and there were a handful of tables occupied. The decor is lovely and it is a shame it wasn't busier. But when...More

Dined unfashionably early, but the service was as good as if the eyes of the world had been looking. The food was excellent: well cooked, at the proper temperature and beautifully presented. But the décor did my head in. What with the deconstructed tartan pictures...More

Great Italian decor and food. Walk down a narrow alley beside the garden with ivy. Go through the garden shed like entrance. The pea soup was fantastic. Gnocchi was excellent. Service was very well done.

From the main street you follow the signs through a back alley, a few corners and you reach this quirky restaurant. Must have been decorated by one of those Spanish architects :-). The name "Cucina" indicates Italian food, but the dishes are more like fusion...More

Food was nice and service was excellent. Definitely a bit more on the pricey side but I didn't mind paying that little bit extra as it was a lovely meal. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated and very unique. I will 100% be back here.

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its

this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly

that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
