5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed yesterday NEW

We attended one the gin tasting sessions with afternoon tea. It was brilliant. Staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The gin selection they have is unbelievable (the biggest in Scotland I think??!) and the afternoon tea was tasty and plentiful. Will definitely be back!

Quite a distance from the City Centre, but we really enjoyed our meal. Not a great choice for our Vegan Diner, but the service was excellent and the food & drink were good. thought it was a little pricy but there was a lovely atmosphere

If you're a gin fan then you've hit lucky, if you're not you will be when you leave! It's not extortionate and they are super nice guys behind the bar ;) We stayed for three drinks and I tried 3 different ones even one of their own and they were all amazing; I'm a gin convert! They do food but... More

Have now eaten here four times when there has been an Itison voucher deal available. Burgers are always juicy with a nice bun. Nice touch as the fries come in a wee basket. Would def visit again.

Staff friendly and attentive but the food was just OK nothing special over a Wetherspoons. Maybe this was because it was at Christmas time. The choice of gins was extensive and numbed the pain of the service charge which should be lifted especially at Christmas when your staff would get a better tip.

We chose comfy cosy booth seating, lovely welcoming waiter. Decent deal and we both ordered the Scottish full breakfast, mine vegetarian. I asked if they had veggie sausages and was told yes. When my plate was brought it had black pudding on it touching the sausages! I had to scrape it off and had to ask for another hash brown... More

Popped in for brunch on Sunday along with friends and the food was just fantastic. I have knocked 56 North in the past but it appears they have gotten themselves back on track, producing excellent food and the staff are just super welcoming. Keep up the good work guys you really did make my Sunday one of the best.

The steak sandwich's were cooked to perfection. Lovely atmosphere with good music (not too loud) was able to conduct a conversation. Staff could not have been more helpful in explaining the differences in the many gins on offer. Tried a couple of different Scottish gins. Will definitely be going back. Also many thanks to the manager for a wonderful eating... More

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
