Our second visit to 56 north today and we had a lovely time. The food was gorgeous, they were really accommodating with our toddler and the masterclass with Neil was great. We were really well taken care of by all of the floor staff, thank...More

If you like gin you need to pay this place a visit. Very nicely done with around 300 gins (!) and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Prices very reasonable. Easy to spend too much time here!

It was our first evening in Scotland. We are grateful because the staff made our first encounter with Edinburgh special and memorable. Neil and Gary provided excellent service - definitely not indifferent to customers! Neil offered to boil a soother that our baby dropped and...More

Decided to try this place out as it was a sunny day and it looked appealing. Nice enough designed bar/restuarant. Waitress was very pleasent. Food ranged from ok to not very good. Small portions, large prices. Wouldn't bother going back. Has a wide selection of...More

The food was average, service a little slow but friendly enough. Shame they don't seem interested in stopping their delivery drivers using the pavement as a parking while unloading. We won't be back until they are more responsible.

Came for the Scottish gin and cheese tasting. What a wonderful afternoon. Very much enjoyed ourselves. Neil was great. We learnt a lot of interesting things and enjoyed the gins and the cheeses they were paired with.

Attended a gin tasting experience last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the introduction to the gin making process including the provided samples. On the recommendation from friends, we stayed on for a meal, which we also enjoyed. Super friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around
university buildings in Southside, the sort of
neighbourhood that supports a long string of
second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for
just a few pounds. In August the student population is
replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here
for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and
arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking
