Visited for coffee and a cake and my son had a salad. Great to find the salmon salad with sushi rice is gluten free. Good to find a seat when Edinburgh was so busy. Clean restaurant but toilets needed attention.

If you have used Pret A Manger before you know what to expect, very good sandwiches and coffee etc. If I'm on the go I'd always prefer Pret to pick up a couple of things, coffee and breakfast baguette in the mornings or salad and smoothie or sandwich for lunch. Just love Pret.

Pret's are normally great. This one is the exception to the rule. Service is poor, customers are ignored, baristas try but fail to multi task. The food and coffee are great to be fair, but the service is consistently weak.

Pret is our go to place for breakfast when traveling in the UK, and this branch on Castle street did not disappoint. Favorites include the savory croissants, chocolate croissants, coffee and fresh fruit cups. Would not recommend the hot oatmeal/porridge.

I've never visited Pret a Manger before my visit to Edinburgh and I was very impressed by the quality of food. Admittedly the sandwiches are expensive but they are worth the price for the quality you receive. Too many times I have purchased expensive shop bought sandwiches and they have been inadequate. However the quality of ingredients used and the... More

Ita a good coffee house, good coffee as well however the croissants are a about 1.50 pound a piece. I say that because i ate the same croissants at a local sainsburys for just 60 pence a piece. They tasted and looked exactly the same. Good staff and good service though.

We stopped here for a quick coffee on our way to the airport. I am very familiar with the Pret brand, frequenting their London and out of town venues often. The guy serving when we visited was quite curt and totally uninterested in serving. Everything seemed like too much effort, including asking for a few extra napkins.

We visited here on a wet and windy Friday. We felt we needed something warm, so chose the bean soup and roll. Absolutely delicious.

While travelling through the UK my number 1 pit stop has always been Pret A Manger. If I had the opportunity I would eat there every day of the rest of my life. Always fresh and delicious!

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
