Went to the agua as we were staying at the Apex City of Edinburgh hotel, this is the fourth time we have been here and usually lots of choice, good service etc. Today we were given a set christmas menu with no chance of changing it - even though the people next to us had the full menu. When i... More

We visited this restaurant for a family meal. The fixed price menu was excellent value and I find it hard to understand why the place isn't busier.

We visited here after we bought a voucher for 2 courses, food was incredible but the restaurant was quite empty. Only 6 other diners in the whole place which was a shame as the food was delicious and great value for money. Hope business picks up for this restaurant.

Pleasant experience but with no Scottish staff working in the restaurant not the Scottish welcome expected, just adequate low key service - need a bit more enthusiasm. Food good quality and the set meal is good value.

Having eaten at 2 other Apex restaurants in Edinburgh and had a good experience thought we would try Agua. Booked a table for lunch in restaurant as it was Festival time and thought it would be busy. When we arrived were told restaurant was reserved for a large group so were sat in bar in front of large television screen... More

We arrived in a group of 15 (pre-booked) for the fixed price menu (£10.95 for two courses). The group were warmly welcomed with a complimentary bread and oil starter appetiser. Table water on the table and drinks ordered quickly and efficiently. I had the pressed pork and black pudding balls to start and the braised beef cheek for main -... More

We visited Agua with our friends as part of a groupon deal; £45 per couple for a 3 course a la carte meal and a bottle of wine. We were warmly welcomed, and sat at our table along a bank of ultra modern seating, teetering over the edge of high end, stylish bistro/ cafe furniture, in a dark wood and... More

Wine & Dine £45 for 3 courses for two people which includes a bottle of wine. Kids also eat free for hotel guests and their food is as good quality as the adults. The breakfasts are also very good with a cold buffet selection and hot food to order. An excellent evening meal and breakfast and I cannot recommend enough.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
