Absolutely super food - small intimate Italian restaurant, family run. have visited before and cant believe that we haven't returned since, until recently!! just wish that we lived in Edinburgh so that we could visit here more often! rather than 180 miles away!

We were a little hesitant because it does not look like much in the outside, but the food is absolutely delicious. We ordered the veal ravioli (special at the time), ricotta and spinach cannelloni, and gnocchi in a pesto sauce. All were amazing and came...More

My wife and I stumbled onto this small jewel of a restaurant one night, then returned again, bringing our Scottish family with us to celebrate our visit to Scotland from California. Both times we were struck by the delicious food, the welcoming service, the friendliness...More

had dinner here on a Friday evening with my brother who lives nearby, but hadn't been before. It's only a small place so it's probably worth booking especially at the weekend. Was impressed with the food, it's what I would call authentic Italian food, much...More

We had dinner tonight at AlDente. We were greeted warmly, received great service and the food was fantastic. Very reasonably priced with a good selection on the menu plus several specials. This was our favorite dinner in Edinburgh. The restaurant is a bit outside of...More

I clearly differ from most reviewers, and I'll share our experience. We arrived on a Wednesday night about 6:45 pm with a reservation. We were the only peeps in the restaurant until around 8:00, just before we left, when two women arrived. It was not...More

This restaurant was a great place to eat, after a long drive to Glasgow. On a flying visit we wanted some quick food near our hotel. Well, we found excellent food, great service, at a more than acceptable price. Thanks for a great meal.

Visited last minute for a meal based on trip advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The service was very friendly and the owner even took time to say hello and have a chat towards the end. The food was exceptionally good and all washed down...More

Al Dente is a small, intimate restaurant on Easter Road not too far from Princes Street. It only holds about 24 persons maximum and it has a nice ambiance, reminiscent of those you find in Italy. The owner, Graziano makes you very welcome and the...More

We had dinner to Al Dente's in April 2017 and I have to admit it was a pleasant surprise. We tried some mixed starters, spaghetti alla carbonara and gnocchi alla sorrentina. The quality of the pasta is really high as the ingredients they used. Staff...More

Description
Secreted away on one of the quieter stretches of Easter Road is a sparkling jewel of Italian dining – Al Dente is quite simply glorious. The walls are covered with pictures of Italian movie stars and picturesque vistas and these evocative images, along with the tiled floor and simple wooden tables, imbue Al Dente with the earthy simplicity of old Italy. But do not be fooled by this rustic interior or the attractively affordable prices; this restaurant offers the finest food and the friendliest service. A roast pepper overflows with fat grains of arborio rice, subtle but vibrant flavours elevating homely fare to five-star standards. A similar trick is played with immaculately presented mains such as porcini mushroom risotto and chicken breast stuffed with asparagus and parmesan. The set lunch is fantastic value; that diners can enjoy two courses of locally sourced, seasonal food, beautifully cooked for only £7.50 seems almost preposterous, if wonderfully so.High point: Beautiful, affordable foodLow point: The shop front is not as welcoming as the staff within
