I knew I had to have the obligatory haggis meal so I impulsively stopped here when I saw the "best haggis in town" sign. I had the Robert Burns haggis which is the cylindrical tower of haggis, mashed turnips, and mashed potatoes. I got two bites in and decided I had to make a return trip to have it again.... More

Shared a few dishes with my family here. We went for the haggis nachos, the cheese platter, and the goats cheese with beetroot for starters. Then we had the haggis stuffed chicken and pork, Stilton & asparagus sausages for mains. Starting with the starters, the nachos were very tasty, good combo of flavours. The cheese platter, I would not recommend... More

I ordered the pork, Stilton & asparagus sausages. It looked good on the menu. I am sure it was... I could not taste anything but the dark and sticky red wine jus spread all over the dish. It tasted like Marmite, just too much and not complimenting the rest of the ingredients at all. Very disappointing. My friend had the... More

The haggis are nice - great taste and great presentation. We had the normal one and the Princess Diana sauce. Both were great. Staff was nice. There were no tables on ground floor, and staff was friendly to go upstairs to find us a table at the bar. Atmosphere was nice and comfortable at the bar area. I asked for... More

We walked by this place and decided to give it a try for dinner. Were glad we did. Very cool atmosphere and excellent food. I had the veggie haggis with whiskey sauce and husband had sausage and roast vegetables. The food was really good. Service was good. Small place, but we went early and got a table without reservations on... More

Lovely food, chicken with haggis was the better of the dishes but the haggis wrap also nice. Very attentive serving staff. Worth a visit

We went to the "Secret Arcade" (upper flor from the main entrance) and enjoyed a nice dinner in this place. We had never tasted haggis before and we liked. Big quantities for a dinner. Good price quality relationship. The service was very helpful.

We visited for an early dinner and the place was quiet, so not much atmosphere. The décor is lovely though. Food is decently priced and very large portions are given. Overall quality is good; it is the right place to come if you are looking for comfort food.

Thank Aoife C

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
