Very good quality food and accommodating staff, good choice on the menu and reasonable offers on (2 courses £31.50) some items heavily supplemented on the menu (steaks 7-9£ more and scallops for started was maybe 6£ more. Restaurant is nicely spaced out between tables and has a lovely chilled out vibe. Anyway food was delicious, service was good, I had mussels for started which were genuinely 10/10 very very good! Steak was cooked to rare as requested and was really good , I had a lovely crust and really well seasoned, I found it strange for the steak to be presented on the plate alone with a trickle of puree and pepper sauce (no veg or garnish)? That’s just a personal opinion. Sides were delicious Panna cotta for desert again beautiful! All in all great dining experience

Five star food experience. And, so surprised at the value for money for food of this quality. Three of us had three courses of the finest quality, well presented freshly cooked food from a choice filled menu, with a carafe of good wine for less than £100! Where would you get it? Ill not wait too long for a return visit.

Was recommmed to us by friends and we weren’t disappointed. The food, atmosphere and service were excellent. We went at 7pm on a Saturday evening and were seated straight away. We had wings and aranchini to start and both were lovely. We both went with steak for mains which was cooked perfectly and the meat was really good. The lemon tart for dessert was lovely. The service and attention from staff throughout the meal was excellent and we would definitely return if we’re in Derry again

Very disappointing meal. I had a burned chickpea burger which was missing half of its listed contents. I was charged £22 for the privilege as part of a 'two courses for 27.50' deal despite my selecting the dish from a vegetarian a la carte menu. Bizarrely, when I asked to see an a la carte menu with prices ( if a restaurant is offering a so called price deal, there should Always be an a la carte menu also available in order to be allowed to decide between the two), they said that there wasn't an a la carte menu. It also needs to be mentioned that the sample a la carte menu which was displayed on their website under 'Dinner' - and which was literally what I based my decision to book a table on - turned out to be a lunch menu - even this issue, we had to pull up the website and show the waiter as he just kept saying there's no a la carte menu on our website. He did apologise for the website error. I don't blame the staff, these are all management/owner issues. The staff, apart from all of the problems were friendly and efficent, theyre just doing what they're told to do. We had one evening in Derry and it's a pity our meal experience was so poor. Love Derry but won't be going to Brown's again.

We visit Browns every time we go to Derry. Has always been very good. Unfortunately, this time, it was very poor. The Menu did not read well, but we finally picked something. My husband had scallops and smoked beef, which was not a good combination and cold when it arrived. I had a pulked pork slider, but only because there was nothing else i liked on the menu.. My husband had pork fillet and pork Belly. The pork belly was delicious, and the jus, but the pork fillet was very overcooked and dry! I had braised venison which was more pulled and reshaped! Very tasty with the jus, but after that was exhausted it was very dry.. when my husband complained about the pork. He was offerered a fresh piece of pork fillet. However, after waiting 25 mins a full new plate of pork arrived. It was a slight improvement but i had long since finished my dinner and the manager was obviously not happy! My husband ate a few bites and we left. We were not offered a reduction on the bill or a complimentary drink or even a proper apology. At Almost £100 for a lousy dinner we will never return..very sad as always our favourite in Derry for years!

Nice looking place, okay wait staff, unfortunate food. We went to this restaurant on our honeymoon because it was a Michelin recommendation. From the sign we learned that the honor was given in 2019. I’m not certain if the restaurant is under new ownership or management, but the food is most certainly not Michelin quality. At all. My meat was over cooked and served with an amount of mayonnaise no man or woman should ever consume, more over the chips were soaking in a bath of oil or butter (not certain which). We will not be returning or visiting the sister restaurant.

I go to Browns at least once a month and always recommend it to others as being the best in Derry but have been disappointed on the past couple of visits, especially this one. We went on Easter Sunday evening and had the sirloin of beef which was so dried and tough and must have been sitting cooked since lunchtime. I ordered a side of veg but was told it came with potatoes and veg so additional sides would be extra and not needed so I didn't bother. It came with 2 carrots and 1 piece of swede which was disappointing. On our previous couple of visits it just wasn't up to the usual standard and definitely no longer worth the higher price which I used to be able to justify paying but I wanted to give it another go hoping they were just off days. I hope it picks again but I will maybe try other places for a while until it does.

The service was very slow, not sure why as it was a quiet night… no ambiance, very austere feeling. Shocked it got on the Michelin guide (note it was 2019 when they got it) as the food was really not great. Soup was very salty (and I’m a salt lover), chicken main course was a plain grilled chicken breast. Multiple supplementary fees on the items on the set menu you’d actually want to get, which is a really cheeky way to present a menu IMO. The dessert was great, presumably bought in. The wine menu was overpriced for what it was. Paid less for a better bottle at The Old Glen the next night. The restaurant is part of a group of brands, and this is clearly one of the more unloved locations. Shame, as Derry needs a high end pub style resto option.

Visited the restaurant on Saturday night.Browns is always mentioned favourably in the media so we were expecting a treat. The restaurant was busy but lacking in atmosphere or ambiance. Most items on the set menu had supplements which did not make sense. I had fish of the day which was the tiniest piece of cod with mash.Had the food been tasty I could have overlooked the portion size Sadly it was bland and tasteless. My partner had the burger which was overcooked to the point of being cremated. Overall a very disappointing meal and perhaps proof that media reviews should be treated with scepticism. Our experience of Browns in Town was sadly disappointing and underwhelming.

My own two courses (£27.50) were reasonably good: goats cheese bruschetta to start and sugar pit pork for main, though the minuscule dots of caramelised apple were more tantalising than anything rise and the couple of leaves under the pork chop, while very nice, made one want a lot more. The big issues were with my wife’s meal. Her main course was mango spring roll with beetroot slaw. The slaw would have fitted on a teaspoon. The diagonally cut slim spring rolls were stacked attractively but pretty bland in flavour and she could only find one sliver of mango. Her starter really took the biscuit. Red onion, tomato and olive salad …. The olives were fine, the red onion had a delicious dressing but there were only three or four little pieces the size of postage stamps. The tomato, featured in the name of the dish …. wait for it …..two halves of a single cherry tomato! When we asked for more the server brought a little dish with another three or four pieces of onion and another two cherry tomatoes halved. Not exactly a winning response to the complaint. Brown’s has pretentions to being a more sophisticated and well heeled establishment than others in the town and its prices reflect that relative to nearby competitors. That’s fine if you are providing corresponding good food and quality of service. Unfortunately not our experience.

As always our Sunday lunch was a great experience. We both had the chicken wings, a generous portion freshly cooked and very tasty. We followed with the roast of the day, sirloin cooked pink. Another excellent choice the meat was very tender and accompanied by potato mash and Yorkshire pudding. We both chose seasonal vegetables as our side order, a good mix including carrot, broccoli and sugar snap peas. Mention must be made of our Server a delightful young lady who contributed much to our experience.

Lovely spot for a casual meal out. Roisin welcomed us and all of the staff were wonderful. Very efficient and friendly. My halloumi starter and sea bass mains with champ were delicious. My husband's scallop starter was also delicious but his steak was not medium rare as he had ordered. He said it was still very tasty and he was very hungry so he didn't send it back. All in all, I would happily recommend Browns in town.

Visited Browns In Town yesterday and had a beautiful 2 course lunch. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table by a lovely friendly waitress who smiled and chatted to us throughout our stay. We ordered a gin and tonic and the Browns craft ale which my husband loved and drinks were brought very quickly. My husband enjoyed the pressed beef to start while I had the spicy chicken wings both delicious and left us excited for our mains. I chose the beautiful chicken and chorizo risotto which was amazing while my husband chose the fish of the day (cod) which he adored. We were only sorry we didn’t have room to enjoy the excellent selection of desserts on offer. We’ll just have to return another day. A lovely comfortable restaurant with a good buzz that serves excellent well cooked food served by great staff. Cant ask for more in my opinion.

We enjoyed 3 courses from the Early Bird Menu which were ample, well presented and tasty. Our male server was helpful and efficient, our young, female server was quiet and reserved, she really could have been more friendly and pleasant. Anyway, it was an enjoyable evening and we definitely will return.

Despite the restaurant being relatively quiet we had to wait some time for a table. The decor needs to be updated but the service was pleasant. The mains were a let down. The Risotto with pieces of bland chicken placed on top was not enjoyable. The Chicken Supreme was served dry and white and was was not eaten. Deserts despite small were tasty and enjoyable. Overall fell short of expectations.
