Amazing food, friendly staff and an excellent vegetarian menu with numerous options that I would be keen to try (couldn’t eat them all in one evening!). I will definitely be back. I had the chickpea burger which was delicious. The Heirloom salad was also a...lovely starter - the dressing was really tasty.More

We had a wonderful meal here last week. For starters my husband had chicken wings which were crispy and delicious I had the squid which was just perfect. For mains my husband had the Pork Wellington which he loved and my shoulder of lamb was...also great except for the smokey flavoured tomato chutney which I did not like but passed it to my husband and he loved it . Vegetables and chips cooked perfectly . We didn't have dessert . Wine was ok at £21 nothing special there. Service was attentive and friendly . We'll be backMore

First class service and food at Browns in Town. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back. Lovely atmosphere given the times we are in. The service was second to none.

This was my 4th or 5th visit to Browns. The food standards seem to have drifted from their expected high. Neither starter was even average. My additional £4 for scallops was distinctly underwhelming....2 small & 1 tiny scallop! Squid was really not edible so most...left. Saved by 2 great mains saved the meal but if you have the braised shoulder of lamb watch out for a foul tasting smokey chilli jam. Retch! Gave feedback but not well received regrettably.More

This was our first visit to Browns in Town but it definitely won't be the last. The restaurant is light and airy. Our Waitress was welcoming and helpful. I opted for Chowder as a starter which was creamy and delicious with lots of assorted fish....For main I went for the Pork Belly which actually came as Pork three ways with Belly, Loin and Rolled with Black Pudding all delicious and served very fine. My wife opted for Roasted Lamb in a crumb of crispy skin which was cooked perfectly. Others in the Group ordered Cod which was also beautifully cooked. After a hearty cheese board to share served with honey and chutney we had all had our fill. Great value for money at £160 for 5 x people 2 courses each with wine and drinks including coffees.More

We ate in Browns in Town on Sunday evening, 27th June 2021. The food was gorgeous - chowder, ham hock terrine, rib-eye steak, lamb shoulder, pineapple tarte tatin, and a really delicious and generous cheese board. Every staff member treated us with respect, grace, and...humour. A fitting meal for our 35th wedding anniversary!More

My partner and I took my mum here for Sunday dinner yesterday. My mum didn't take a starter; we had the pressed ham terrine and chowder. The terrine was absolutely delicious and well presented, and the chowder was creamy, hot and smoky with a great...selection of fish. All three of us had the sirloin with Yorkshire puds, roast potatoes and red wine jus. It doesn't mention it on the menu, but there's some mash in there too. You get a side order with it so we added veg and cauliflower cheese with chorizo. The meat was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious, the mash was silky smooth, and the sauce deep and flavorful. There was a celeriac puree hiding underneath too that added another dimension. The portions were fantastic value for money and the ingredients top quality. We had the Turkish delight crème brûlée afterwards, and the cheese board which we demolished collectively as it comprised some delicious cheeses and accompaniments. The honey with black peppercorns on the blue cheese was inspired! I've never seen that before. There was a good wine and drinks menu. We went for the Duc du Belmont, a decent budget wine and a good match for the beef. For all of this the price was extremely reasonable. The service was excellent - attentive, friendly and accommodating. The restaurant itself is very nice, relaxing, and covid protocols all followed, and the bathrooms are very clean. I've been to Brown's quite a few times and the level of food and service is consistently high. All in all a fantastic experience and I'd be back in a heartbeat.More

Quick online table booking and took the 2 course offering for £23.50. The Salt & Chili Squid was lovely, a nice touch mixing it with noodles, and the chargrilled pork fillet was beautiful. Nice quiet atmosphere, with plenty of spacing between tables. Service from the...staff was great, always popping by to make sure everything was okay and if we would like anything else.More

Great staff, superb food, so accommodating and the main thing you leave with, is the amazing attention to taste and flavour. Appropriately priced for the quality of food which is perfectly pitched . Definitely recommend to anyone I know and indeed anyone looking for a...great tasting food experience that doesn’t cost the earth . Have had scrumptious chicken curry and pasta dishes as well as fab seafood chowder. The desserts are something else too. What I loved is the pasta dish my son fancied wasn’t on the menu but they were more that facilitating- that says it all.More
