Belfast is a small place and sometimes, in small places, something fairly good can get hyped up beyond all reality. I'm pleased to say that Ox deserves the hype. The service was great; the menu was imaginative and the food cooked to perfection; the wine pairings were spot; and even though dessert is usually my least favourite course, even that... More

We had wanted to try Ox for a long time so we bought a voucher for Christmas and used it last Saturday night for my boyfriend's birthday. Everything about the experience was fantastic. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout. We had the set menu which is £50 and great value. We decided not to do the wine pairings... More

Ox is by far my favourite restaurant, and the main reason I would fly back to Belfast. I had the tasting menu on 4 separate occasions, each different, each served beautifully. For £70 pp including wine, it is stunning value, and each dish is a taste delight. Whereas in other restaurants you often have to wait for all the food... More

Recently went with my girlfriend who had been many times. I have to admit, I'm not one for pretentious atmospheres and didn't know what to expect with Ox as I'm a bit of a food novice. Ox was amazing and the relaxed atmosphere was something I really enjoyed. All 5 courses were fresh, inventive and tasty. Really enjoyed the whole... More

I weigh a restaurant up on a number of levels, atmosphere, food, service and price. Atmosphere did not appeal to me, I have been a couple of times and find it uncomfortable and intimidating. Food was certainly good but not the best I've eaten in Belfast. Wine was generally unpleasant and I could have slapped the insincere and carefully rehearsed... More

I booked dinner here based on reviews while on a recent visit to Belfast and it did not disappoint. We went for the matching wines which complimented each course perfectly. It was explained to us that all the food was seasonal. Every course was just wonderful. We had lobster with pickled mussels, asparagus, John Dory, lamb and one of each... More

The food here is excellent. That's it. Nothing else is as important... But if you must know, the service here is impeccable and friendly. The atmosphere because of that, is much nicer than the layout would otherwise suggest. Back to the food. They offer only a seasonal tasting menu. This is wise given their mantra on fresh local produce and... More

Our first meal in Belfast and wow did it set the standard. Quality of food some of the best tasted with service to match. The German Pinot Noir was a real star.

We had the 5 course taster menu with wine pairing and I can honestly say it's the best meal I've ever eaten in my life!!! I was a little sceptical as I've never had fine dining before but I was totally blown away. The food was absolutely amazing, as was the wine (I'm not a big drinker normally!). The staff... More
