food was good, but nothing "WOW" we'd expect from a Michelin rated restaurant. service was super friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu in the other hand.

Tonight I was told I was being taken to OX for a tasting menu. Oh my word! Exquisite, delicious, exciting, welcoming, & just thoroughly good! I’m a real foodie so I adore trying anything new. This little gem was so on point! The staff were...friendly, professional, enjoyable & knew their stuff. I loved it. Unfortunately I knocked my glass of wine (clumsy) & it shattered all over the floor. Within seconds it was mopped up, cleaned away, never to be mentioned again. Literally! Nothing was too much trouble. The French guy was super professional & the Spanish girl was cheery & fun. I do not live in Belfast but if I did I would bring all my friends & family here. Really! So so good!!! 👍👌More

Wonderful food, in a lovely venue , beautifully designed and lit. Food was exquisite, delicious flavours. Service was fantastic.

Some lovely food with well paired wines but spoiled by small portions of both. Finished the meal still hungry. We have been before and on this occasion service was poor. Too fast at the start then they seemed to forget about us for half an...hour while tables that arrived after us finished well before us. We weren’t offered the cheese course that seemed freely available to neighbouring tables. When we queried this we were told that they thought we were going to go next door to their bistro (cave) for cheese and port??Not a Michelin Star event! And the bill was way over what I would have expected even for an excellent Michelin one star meal. Very disappointing.More

Whenever I go away I like to plan a couple extravagant meals so whilst in Belfast I decided to try OX. It did not disappoint. My excursion finished earlier than expected so I called to see if I could get an earlier table. They explains...they couldn’t guarantee it but to come into Cave and they’ll see to me when a table is available. I wasn’t seated long before they told me I could go next door into the restaurant. I was seated and had the menu explained to me by a member of staff and asked if I’d like to opt for wine pairing which I did as I feel this gives you the best experience with a tasting menu. They are paired for a reason. Each dish was beautifully presented, well balanced and perfectly complimented by the paired wine. A lovely couple to the side of me saw I was alone and invited me to sit with them which was lovely and a testament to the people of Northern Ireland. They happened to be out for their 20th Wedding Anniversary and we’re friends with the Chef and Owner so I got to meet him which was a very nice touch. If in Belfast and looking to splash out definitely give this place a try.More

We booked for the autumn tasting menu and opted for the wine pairing. Delicious, adventurous courses with excellent service with a beautiful view of Belfast's river Lagan. The wine pairing in particular was sensational, without a misstep throughout the evening.

i so wanted to give it 5 stars and have a great special night, ......but alas nowhere near there is no menu, you just east what they have on their surprise 7 course menu menu. which must be great for the restaurant and make it...so easy serving the same thing over and over again , bit like a hotel dinner for 100 guests.. sitting on a bench on a cushion was also not the best experience. the first dish was great and the sweetcorn soup amazing, but thats were it stopped impressing. the meat of the vennison tartare had no taste, probably served too cold. the scallop just did not work with the red wine sauce the consomme tasted like medecine , when i commented this to the waitor he told me i was not the first to say this. the small single slice of duck on the main course was ridiculous and probably led to the overall problem when i left the restaurant still hungry. i did not like the pre-dessert , the main dessert was good but not memorable so overall i thought i'd be generous and give it one star for the soup and one star for the food presentation. i will never be back or recommend, the price is really at the top of anything you can pay in Northern Ireland and the food , was just not.... i did complain at the end , but it did not get anywhere, it is the most expensive meal i have had out in Northern Ireland by some way , i would really not mind if it could have been special.More

The food was very nice, but was nothing special and probably not worth the price paid unfortunately. Have eaten in quite a few Michelin star restaurants, this one just lacked any real passion in the food.

We called the day before for a relatively large number of people and called the morning of the reservation to add more. While they couldn't accommodate us in their main dining room, they were very helpful and suggested that we could have the same tasting...menu in their bar annex next-door. So we divided up and a good time was had by all. The food would be top rate in any city in the world. It was a tasting menu of 6 courses. We did not take the wine pairings, but they were probably excellent. The portions were excellent, and while adventuresome, nothing was so far out that our first thought was "yuck" when we heard the ingredients. They gave us a printed menu to take home but wouldn't give it in advance so each course would be a surprise. Highly recommend.More

Having wanted to visit OX for years, we enjoyed a fantastic Friday night savouring the tasting menu and matched wines. Every course was a delight; imaginative, delicious, and with an array of flavours and techniques. The matching wines featured some very unusual styles and grapes;...always good to try something new. Service was relaxed but attentive; with time for a chat while the plates and glasses arrived at a decent tempo. After dinner we were invited through to the cave, where we relaxed in candlelight and comfy leather chairs while listening to live music in the company of cocktails and whisky. An amazing night all round, and can’t thank everyone involved enough for a memorable night.More

Had a wonderful Saturday evening here. The food was exceptional, the staff were really attentive without being overbearing. One of us had the wine pairings with the meal and they were excellently chosen to befit the courses and very well explained to us as they...arrived as was the food. All in all an excellent experience which we thoroughly enjoyed.More

Food is good but they messed up one of my courses and gave me a vegetarian option when I wasn’t and then obviously mistimed our courses. The pairing wine is expensive and they give you very little and I wouldn’t recommend it. It is expensive...but you know that when you book. Doesn’t meet the criteria for Michelin status as this is supposed to be perfect and OX isn’t.More
