Food was ok and just as expected from this chain. You know what you are getting and it's at a reasonable price. So average = satisfactory. Hope that makes sense. Importantly, we would revisit.

We visit here for lunch whenever we are in Abergavenny so thought it about time I posted a review. We have never been disappointed with the service here even at the busiest of times. The food has always been very nice and the service from both bar and waiting staff has been excellent and cheerful. The tables are cleaned quickly.... More

Just visited the coliseum, got served pretty quickly, ordered a latte and was told it would be on the end of the bar . Waited 10 mins on end of bar in queue then the manager who was serving the lattes finished serving the gentlemen in front of me then went into the glass wash and left me standing there... More

Despite many Wetherspoons pubs being housed in heritage buildings after the first few weeks of opening they’ll never win any prizes for ambiance or style but they do have a niche at the lower end of the market serving cheap drinks and food. H was at a function in Abergavenny on a Friday so M came here for a quick... More

Hi, we visited your establishment on the above date to find it not to full and able to easily accommodate the 5 of us.We were taking our in laws out for a treat and to meet the new baby We promptly ordered and were told it would be 25-25 mins. Which we thought was odd given how we have been... More

Interesting old building as it was a cinema, normal weatherspoons fare & fast friendly service. Good value for money & seemed busy at lunchtime, tables were being cleared & cleaned, perfedctly fine for a cheap meal & a beer.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your visit. We are working with our kitchen team to get consistent quality of the hand battered fish. Unfortunately our service times have suffered as a result of this. However we are aiming to get food service times below 10 minutes. We hope to see you again soon. More

Food was good, not great, one tiny piece of lettuce in burger, cocktail was under filled. One of the bar staff by the name of Heather was extremely rude and did not want us to order food. She had extremely poor attitude.

Pub History This Wetherspoon pub is the former Coliseum cinema, which opened in 1913 and screened its last film in the 1990s. The first permanent film show in Abergavenny was around 1912, when a Victorian corrugated iron hall on Park Road was used as the Picture Palace. The following year, the Abergavenny Coliseum Company acquired land in Lion Street, and the Coliseum opened on 3 November 1913. In mid 1989, the cinema's stalls were converted to shops with a cinema above. By 1998, the Coliseum had become a bingo hall, with various shop units, and is now this Wetherspoon pub.
