Chef Sean Hill has a long and well earned reputation so savouring his food was a super experience. Had a drink in the bar before heading into lunch where we given an amuse bouche that was quirky and delicious - pork scratching with pulled pork - yes! We chose from the menu which is no easy task as there were... More

This was our first visit to the walnut tree inn. This restaurant is all about the local produce and cooking it very well. Although, the apricot and pistachios trifle just wasn't to my liking. I'm a bit of a traditionalist. I did feel a little rushed when i was debating my choice between the wine and dinner menu but things... More

Booked for our 35th wedding anniversary staying at the sister hotel The Angel, who kindly or ovules a complimentary taxi there and back. We were made welcome and not rushed at all . It is very rustic and laid back restaurant, people dressed to kill and also in woolies and tweeds. I wore a cocktail dress and did feel overdressed... More

I've been coming here for many years but declined to write a review until now. I've had great meals here and some not so great but overall this is a terrific restaurant and Sean Hill (boss/head chef) designs a menu that true food lovers can do nothing but drool over. Sean has seen it all and I'm so pleased that... More

Had to go to Monmouth at the weekend and stopped off on the way home at the Walnut Tree. The Michelin star makes you think formal and maybe a bit pretentious but the Walnut Tree was ,in fact, a nice Country Inn with great food and very friendly staff. Would have given them 5 stars but one of the pudding... More

Loved the art on the walls, local artists I believe. Marinated fish/shell fish for starter. I must admit I hummed and hared about giving a 4 or a 5 because of this starter, but loved the experience so much I went for a 5. This starter is good, but not great, small portions of each piece of fish and not... More

I don't often write reviews but felt compelled to provide a review after the excellent lunch this Saturday. The lunch was superb, the service excellent but at the same time relaxed and the atmosphere cosy. Nothing was too much trouble. My mum wanted the smoked haddock as a starter, not a main course, and the waitress immediately suggested that should be... More

Having visited this restaurant regularly for the past 12 years I have had countless excellent meals. Being a pescatarian there is always a variety of dishes for me to choose. I have been fortunate to frequent other michelin star restaurants around the uk but this without doubt is my first choice. I highly recommend this restaurant.
