Very nice! Worth travelling through little country roads to visit. Food was lovely. Owners friendly and the feel of the pub is cosy and quirky!

Put this in your Satnav....SP4 6AY then take yourself off to the heart of the beautiful Woodford Valley, between Salisbury and Stonehenge. The locals certainly know how to find it and obviously love the food, making regular reservations. We were lucky enough to find space in the quaint fishing rod room with its memorabilia of past times A photograph of... More

We visited this pub last Friday evening and yes it was a cold evening, probably 0 degrees. When we told we could sit anywhere so chose to sit by their huge wood burning stove as it was not that warm in the pub. Having placed our order and sat at the table in front of the stove we removed our... More

Dropped in not knowing what to expect. Great food and drink and a welcoming landlord. What a joy! This is what a pub should be. No corporate designer meddling with fake 'atmosphere'. This pub has it in droves without trying. We look forward to returning.

We arrived last Tuesday evening following a long drive South, I had phoned ahead to check we could park our van overnight (Brit Stops). A cheery welcome from the young lad behind the bar, a quality pint of Old Horse ale was soon accompanied by possibly the best meal in a pub we have had in many years, delicious and... More

Stayed here using Brit Stop last night even though it is on our door step. We needed somewhere quiet and away from the city fireworks and this place was just the place. Quiet village just outside Salisbury in the Woodford Valley. Home made food and a selection of real ales, well kept, made this a fantastic night. Thank you for... More

The Black Horse is owned by the lovely Mark and Suzie and is always a joy to visit. The home-made food can't be beaten in the area and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. We were staying in a cottage for the bank holiday weekend locally with friends and looking for somewhere reasonably priced to have a meal on the Saturday evening. So pleased we found the Black Horse. The landlord and landlady were really friendly and welcoming and the food was great at a good price. They were happy to adapt a dish... More
